What is Calligraphy?
According to Google, it is the art of producing decorative handwriting or lettering with a pen or brush.
I have seen numerous posts on Facebook - showcasing their talent on this type of writing.
My brother, the youngest, knows how to do this handwriting. How he do it? He said that he watched tutorials on Youtube.
The cover picture is his calligraphy handwriting. He used paint brush for this.

Your brother is very competent. It takes great skill to control a brush so that you get the thick strokes and the thin ones even and in the proper place.
I prefer to use a chisel-edged pen, personally, but that is because I have never learned to use a brush. I learned to write in the Italic or 'Humanist' hand (and in several other styles) from books on the art.

@jobelbojel It would be a challenge for me as my handwriting isn't the best.

he's obviously naturally talented as that pic is pretty good
I used to be interested in calligraphy as a kid.
I had a thing about visiting cathedrals and especially the chained library in hereford along with the mappa mundi.
I liked the way the old books and manuscripts were written, I used to be ok at writing with a quill but haven't done it for over 20 years.

Your brother is very talented. I really like his handwriting. Here the students are required to practice the traditional brush for some time. But it is not very helpful anyway because few of them really master it well. We don't pay much attention to the calligraphy.

But you do Chinese or write Chinese characters right? Looking at characters in Chinese, makes me smile because you can write like that.

When I was 13 I bought a book about calligraphy and taught myself to write in an italic style. It made my schoolwork look a lot better and I won a prize from a teacher. People compliment me on my handwriting to this day but that is when I have written something slowly, like a Christmas card. When I write quickly, such as a telephone message, I struggle to read it later!

I have a friend that gave me a link and I printed out the letters to learn calligraphy. I wanted to learn it before. I started to practice, but, I fine it hard. I know I have to continue to practice. I know if I do that I eventually will understand.
