What was your favorite gift received at Christmas?

Christmas is a very special holiday for our family (and for many others around the world). Our family celebrates this time of year because of the gift of Jesus who came into the world as a small baby. Although many people don't celebrate this aspect of Christmas, it is still a special time to get together with family and friends. We normally give some gifts to our loved ones and I always look forward to watching our kids open their presents. But I was very surprised and overwhelmed by one gift that our son, who is 7 years old, got for my wife and I. A few weeks back, he had gotten 2 of the old Christmas bags that we had recycled from a previous Christmas. He went to his room and made us a present and brought the bags and put them under the tree. When he brought them to us to open on Christmas morning, we had tears in our eyes when we opened the gifts. Our son had put some of his toys and candy in this bag along with a dollar from his piggy bank in each of our bags and then a handwritten note was added that said, "I love you!" This gift melted our hearts and although it didn't really cost anything, it was more valuable than any other present that we gave or received! What gift did you receive this Christmas that was special?

Oh that made me smile and teary at the same time. What a sweet and precious child. My best gift was having all of my children in my home and my adorable granddaughter too.

It was definitely a special gift and my wife and I were both crying and gave him a great big hug! He is a very sweet and caring child and we are so proud of him! I am glad that you were able to spend time with your children and your granddaughter. There is nothing like spending time with family!

@scottcoleson I so agree! There have been far too many holidays and family get togethers that few or none of my children have been able to attend. I treasure it when we can all be together.

I received a book from my sister which was written by a elderly cousin of mine. The book is the history of the community I was born and raised in. There are a lot of things in there that I never knew. There is also the history of my homestead and all the previous owners. It is a treasure to have this book.

That is awesome! I really enjoy studying genealogy! Several years ago I had to write a paper in school on my family history. Years ago, there was a book written about my mom's side of the family and I got to learn a lot from reading that book. It's awesome to see the lives of your family members and how they lived.

@scottcoleson yes it certainly. Now that both my parents are gone I often wish I had asked more questions when I had the chance.

That is so sweet. Brought tears to my eyes when I saw what he did. My favorite gift other than my clothes I received was my bath & body works stuff and my candles.

That is a tearmaker and very sweet. I'm Jewish, so don't celebrate Christmas.

It definitely caused the tears to roll! That's awesome to hear that you are Jewish! I have a cousin who converted to Judaism several years ago. She and her daughter live in Tel Aviv. I am fascinated and love studying Judaism and the Nation of Israel. I would love to visit Israel one day and see the sites with all of their history!
