2016 Will Last One Second Longer

@LadyDuck The word is devastated. Hopefully I may be able to take a reasonable amount of holidays in 2017, which I did not manage in 2016.

@Asylum I know you complained of the terrible lack of holidays during 2016. Where do you plan to go as next destination? The world is shrinking, the safe places are very few now.

Oh my, one more second to wait until the next holiday. I hope you are not too upset.

@bunnybon7 I am so glad they did, many pets were scared, run out of their houses and went killed on the roads.

@ivyparkgirl I live in Switzerland and Marlina in Canada, I think it's snowing in Canada, here today is sunny and very cold 29F.

@LadyDuck It wasn't a good year for me.

I am glad too, surely not the best year I can remember.

@velvet53 It was not good at all for us and for my family.

I have no idea why they make those difficult calculations and they adjust so many times, they could adjust 30 seconds every 40 years, it would be easy. I will stay away from the microwave for sure.

Alone with a good book is much better than in bad company.

I will blink if I am awake, but this is not at all sure.

@LadyDuck last year I was in bed before the ball dropped. So was my husband. The new year happens even if we are not awake to see it.

@ElusiveButterfly Last year we were sleeping and we were woken up by the noise of the fireworks of the Italians, we are close enough to the border to hear their fireworks. This year they also have banned the fireworks, I hope we can sleep.

We used to go out when we were younger, now I feel so much better to stay at home. If I am tired I go to bed.

@LadyDuck Peace would be nice! I went to buy my agenda for 2017 and a a little fruit and the stores were full of people. It is snowing and cold and glad to get back home. .

@LadyDuck Glad that all was peaceful in your and my neighbourhood. It was sad to read about Istambul and Brazil.

I have a lot of food ready to wait for the New Year, now if we can stay up it's another matter.

@simone10 We watched a movie and we stayed up until about 11 pm, but we were too tired to wait another hour.

@LadyDuck We had a lot of food too and neither of us stayed up until midnight. As a matter of fact, we were both in bed around 9pm which is unusual for us.

I am sure I will not notice the difference, I am not even sure I will stay up until midnight. How are you now? No more food problems?

@LadyDuck nope, my tummy is MUCH better.

I have also prepared a few movies to watch while waiting for the New Year. Let's hope not to fall asleep in front of the TV.

Do you celebrate the New Year twice? I think that the Chinese New Year starts on January 28th 2017 (the year of the rooster).

@LadyDuck You are right Anna. We do celebrate new year twice :-) one is same to you,which is fixed on January 1st of every year. Usually,we will have a three-day break. As to the other new year,we call it Lunar Chinese New year or Spring Festival,just like that you referred,it is from January 27th,2017 to February 2nd,2017. In fact,it is also fixed,which usually comes by the 29th or 30th of the twelfth month of the Chinese lunar calendar... Aha,it seems you know something more about Chinese new year,it is truly the year of rooster,for 2018,it would be Dog Year,the ancient Chinese record/counted the year by 12 different animals.

We did not stayed up until midnight. We had dinner and then we watched a movie, my husband was tired, we went to sleep around 11 pm.

Happy New Year to you. With all the bad news we hear, we decided to stay safely at home. My neighbors have left this morning for a week vacation, I will bring inside their cat Willy if he dares to stay with us.
