I've worked out a few tricks to keep all my new year resolutions.. As 2017 approaches, I will share some of the tricks with you 1) keep it easy. dramatic resolutions always fail. 2) the resolution has to be something I genuinely want to do. 3) make the resolution into a task I can do and finish. 4) always have a resolution called "I will not make a resolution".. in the back pocket.. if all else fails. So ya, all in all, am pretty good at keeping my new year resolutions. What's my 2017 resolution? Simple! I will drink less cheap wine! see that's an easy one to keep right? Do you have new year resolutions? Do you do them?

I never slow down enough to make resolutions. Maybe I can have a couple of good ones come to me in a dream tonight!

@Drosophila Well then, my first resolution is to make it home from Disney World with some money still left in the bank. This place is ridiculously expensive!

I have not made a New Year resolution for decades. As you rightly say, people tend to make unachievable resolutions, which is futile.

ya.. I think that's the trick, change something small.. and you are most likely to achieve it.

Happy New Year my friend! I don't have a New Year Resolution but I have goals instead. That is what I am going to work on today. Yesterday I wrote a gratitude article and posted it in my blog. It was entitled 2016 Year End Review. This day I am going to take down all my goals.

@Drosophila True. That is the reason I prefer goals than resolutions.

@annierose well resolutions doesn't have to be all serious.. and no fun. I like to make mine with a bit of fun.. I think part of the trouble is we tend to take ourselves far too seriously

I resolved many years ago not to make new years resolutions but I do have a nightly one. Every night I tell myself to wake up alive and happy, so far so good

@AbbyGreenhill right.. but what's the fun in that.. quietly break one and feel bad about it.. is not the same as intentionally breaking one with glee
