Remembering the old myLot

Every second post here - almost - is wishing everyone a happy new year. This was not allowed in the old myLot. Any repetition would be considered a violation. I am not sure whether everyone here is happy with the way in which wishes are floating around.
I have skipped a few.
What do you think? Are you happy that you see so many wishes doing the rounds?

With little creativity you could easily convert a " Happy New Year" post to something that does not violate guidelines and turn it into a legitimate discussion, it only needs a little effort. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

@allknowing yeah and a little bit of common sense so as to be sensitive as to what site owners do not like.

@louievill Common sense is, alas, rare. Definitely not commonplace anyway.

Posts which are merely a 'greeting' are covered by the Guidelines and are considered 'milestone' posts or 'nothing of substance' and are regularly removed. First of all, you may see a post, then move on and not notice when it is deleted and, second, of course, if you don't see it, you have no knowledge that it ever existed (unless you posted it yourself!).

@allknowing Something like that shouldn't do but it depends on whether Admin sees it or not. Members can help, of course, by reporting anything they feel doesn't have enough substance.

@owlwings That is the shortcoming of this system. Admin depends a lot on reporting and reporting is not always done.

I just searched for them using the tag 'new year' and I lost count of the number. Would according to you a one line discussion such as
"Happy New Year's Eve Everyone! What are your plans for this evening?" and similar ones
survive the axe?

I'm not bothered but honestly, I have skipped a few similar posts.
I miss the old myLot but hey, we have the new one so I really don't want to complain.
Happy New Year to you!

i think it''s hard to check for duplicates first before posting.
i wonder if such greetings and well wishes only (with nothing else of value added) falls under "Discussions, responses or comments that offer little or no value"?

@pgntwo when i scroll down 'recent discussions' then refresh, i also see posts that i'm sure weren't there before, as in in between titles i already saw

Yes it is difficult to check for posts about a topic before posting your own. And I have lost count of the number of times I have started reading from the top of "Their Discussions", only to return and find several posts interspersed between ones I have read that were not there the first time around!

But if you decide to comment on such posts can you count the number of times you as an individual would have to wish back?

even here I think it is technically not allowed as milestone posts are still against the rules
admin is either on holiday or cutting a lot of people some slack
They are harmless so it doesn't bother me
HAPPY NEW YEAR

Just because you see a post doesn't mean that it won't be removed after you've seen it (and you may well not remember that it existed and so won't be aware that it was deleted). Also, of course, if you never see a post, you're unlikely to know that one has been removed (unless you study the number sequence).

@owlwings That I have noticed. One of my posts was deleted and I only came to know when I looked at my "discussions" But in this case why should posts be deleted as, such a rule does not exist.

Well, it is true there were a lot of things that were better with this site back when it paid more. But since I have just come back here and active again I will have to see what I really think after being here again for a while.

@pgntwo But what about commenting on all those posts. It will deprive them of earnings by not commenting on them.

I've done similar ones before without thinking. Some will get deleted and maybe quite b a few but some seem to get missed too. I try to share my greetings now within comments when I've talked about other things first.
