Happy New Year and All That Jazz

I was about to wish you all a good morning but it is, in fact, afternoon in these parts. I've been very lazy today. I have, however, written a poem and responded to a request for guest writers with a local newspaper. Christmas and New Year has been rather uneventful. My other half has been quite poorly. He has various illnesses and disabilities anyway but he seems to have had some sort of bug. If he gets colds or bugs or anything, they're usually gone within a day or so, but this one has lasted about a week. Apparently, several people in his block of flats have had the same for about two weeks. The boys and I have not had it, because we don't really get ill. D was worried that he'd pass it on but, as I said to him, we would have had it by now if we were going to. He seems to be getting over it, though. Other than that, we've had a good week. The boys are back at school and college tomorrow. I'll be trying to get into some kind of routine as I plan on doing lots of things, so need to be well organised! I was supposed to be started another job. Just a few hours, to fit around other things. It's not happened, mainly due to paperwork. Although, considering the fact that the employer has proven that she's more demanding and selfish than your average toddler before I've even started the job, I wonder if it's really worth it for the sake of six hours a week! Anyway, we've had lots of lovely things for Christmas. I won't say everything we had but Mini had a few books, and he really loved his RC helicopter from D's parents. The boys don't tend to get many toys for Christmas so it was nice that he had that, especially as he liked it so much. In fact, he liked it so much that we've got through the huge pack of batteries that D's parents put in with it! Midi liked all the stationery he got, and a t-shirt which said 'I don't know what I want for Christmas' in Circular Gallifreyan. I think D liked his gifts, although he doesn't like me spending much on him. He got me some perfume and a Fantastic Beasts Case Book. Christmas Day was just me, D, and Mini. We opened presents, played games, and had dinner. D was really poorly, though, so he ended up spending a lot of the day sleeping. New Year's Eve was me, D, and both boys. D was feeling better so that was good. We had chippy chips (well, they did. I had salad) and watched Star Trek: Generations and Warehouse 13. Yep, very exciting New Year! I went to my Mum's with the boys between Christmas and New Year. D was still poorly so couldn't make it. We had lots of food, and played some games. We were supposed to be going to D's parents at some point, but we didn't. I was hoping to meet some of his extended family. Due to D being unwell, we didn't make it. I don't know them well enough to be comfortable going without him. Still waiting for a thank you from D's girls for their Christmas presents and I've not been feeling great for the past couple of days. I'm sure I'll be OK tomorrow. I think it's just not knowing what to do with myself! From tomorrow, I'll be busy and probably tire myself out, meeting myself coming back. How was your Christmas (or other celebrations) and New Year?
