Another Beautiful Sunset

My last post was regarding a beautiful sunset on the first day of 2017, and how it symbolized the year starting off on the right track. Well, tonight offered a repeat performance of last night's sunset, with the setting sun providing a magnificent sight in the fading daylight.
Tonight's photo didn't capture the setting sun itself, but of the beautiful colors in the sky itself. This photo was taken at home, so the trees blocked some of the view, but it was still viewable enough to be breathtaking.
I hope that wherever you are in the world, that you got to see a glorious sunset as well.

@moffittjc .. I expect ghosts and zombies and psychos to start prowling around that time..sunset scares me.

@vandana7 So, it's not the beautiful sky that scares you, but the thought of the fading light that will soon immerse you into darkness that scares you? I can totally understand your feelings, if that is the case.

@sunrisefan I've always had trouble with sunrise photos. I never seem to be able to capture the magic at the start of a new day.

@moffittjc So we're opposites :) I like the sunrise and I have lots and lots of photos of it, some of which I've posted here. It's the sunset that is difficult for me to capture.

@moffittjc I often take pics of the beautiful sunsets that I see when travelling to and from town. There is an old dirt road with a farm on it and the view is breathtaking when there is a sunset.

@ElusiveButterfly I was thinking to myself tonight, wouldn't it be amazing to take a sunset photo every night of the year and then compile all 365 photos into an album to look back on? I know not every day is going to provide such beauty, but it would still be a pretty neat thing to try!

Now that you mention it, the trees do add to the effect. Thanks for pointing that out!

Thank you!!
I live an exit away from the beach =)
LOL, so no excuses. It's been cold so we've been lazy to go but we typically go very often to go walking/hiking =)

@infatuatedbby That is pretty awesome that you live so close to the beach. When I was growing up, we lived about a block away from the ocean. It was nice having such quick access to the beach!

Happy New Year Michelle! How close do you live to the beach? Is it possible for you to easily get to a beach to watch sunsets? Or do you live closer to hills or mountains where you can get up high in altitude to see sunsets?

It really did look like the sky was on fire! The camera never can capture the true magnitude of what the human eye sees.

@moffittjc Same for me. But back when I was in college, sunset means meeting my friends and enjoying with them. But sunrise means, it's time to say goodbye. So sunrise gives me a sad feeling, while sunset gives me hope and excitement.

I'm the same way! Sunsets are very inspiring to me. If I am viewing a sunset, it means I survived everything the world threw at me on that particular day. It's as if God is saying that everything will be alright!

@moffittjc I saw where you guys were really getting hammered. We saw some of the rain, but thankfully that was about all. Now we're bracing for a possible ice storm this Friday night into Saturday.

@DWDavis We're going to get some of that nasty weather you're getting on Friday. It won't be cold enough for ice, but it will be in the mid-30s on Friday, before the temps dip into the upper 20's over the weekend.

@DianneN Before the Great Recession and the bursting of the housing bubble, my best friend owned nine units in Trump Tower. Needless to say, he lost his a$$ when the bubble burst, and it almost sent him into financial ruin.

We've had several days of heavy rains, so it is nice to see that the sun is shining for us today. Maybe I can get outside and catch another beautiful sunset, although it is so cold I really don't feel like going outside! haha

To me, nothing is better than watching the sun set over the beach. Probably my greatest sunset memories are watching the sinking sun from Mallory Square in Key West, Florida. If you've ever been to the Florida Keys, you'll understand what I'm talking about. If not, you are missing out on one of the most magical places to watch a sunset!

@Beatburn I went outside this evening to see if I could capture another beautiful sunset to photograph and share on myLot, but unfortunately it was still storming pretty badly, so the clouds completely obscured the setting sun. I'll try again tomorrow.

@moffittjc It's discouraging at times because I would really love to see a sunrise or a sunset. The good thing is, we don't have any hot sun bearing through our windows in the summer time.

@simone10 I never get to see a sunrise, mostly just because I'm never up that early! So, on those rare occasions when I do get to see a sunrise, it's a pretty special moment for me. And even though I can watch sunsets every evening, in the past I have never taken the advantage to admire their beauty. It's something I want to focus more on this year, is admiring the beauty of a sunset as much as I can.

My house is set up the same way as yours. However, I have a clearing on my left that allows me to see the setting sun, if I walk outside. From inside my house, I cant see any sunsets.

@queenofcats I have always been fascinated by clouds, even going back to my childhood. I used to lay in the grass and stare up at the clouds for hours and hours, imagining all sorts of various shapes. Even as an adult, I could sit and watch the clouds for hours.

@moffittjc I think storm clouds are beautiful too, the way the blacks, grays, and whites contrast in monochrome. I have a love for clouds and always have.
