I have a plan…

… thanks to Lamb, I mean, JJ who posted a discussion on finding Bubblews posts!
He helped me to find my Bubblews profile page through the Wayback Machine site...
There are a total of 30 captures for my profile page for a period ranges from 12-Jun-13 to 16-Sep-15...
They are ‘frozen’ captures; we cannot update or interact with the pages but it is really nostalgic to me just seeing those captures...
There are links on the pages and I’ve been poking around with them. Some would lead to more captured pages and a lot of them would not open as they don’t seem to have any captures archived by the site...
I then came up with a plan!
I had a total of 432 posts during my stay on Bubblews. I’m going to go through each and every single one of the 30 profile-page captures to see how many posts I can recover. I have done the first 3 captures, and so far recovered 45 posts!
Since the process is quite meticulous and does take a lot of patience, I am going to give myself a whole month to complete the task. I know this may not be of any interest to anyone other than me, but I’d just remind you all anyway to stay tune for the results then...

@MALUSE Also called "The Internet Archive", it is a collection that shows what pages looked like on the web months or years ago. @JolietJake wrote an interesting bit about it here:
Looks like I originally joined February 21, 2013, and was the 16,493 person to join but I didn't really start being extremely active there until myLot...

I tried that before and never came up with anything. But, after reading Sishy's post here, I'd like to try again. Do I need to find some of my old urls from bubblews, or does it work with keywords better or what? I've asked j the same thing.

Wow, I wonder what could be recovered in the land of forgotten Bubbly schtuff! I live so in the "now" that I for sure don't remember what all I wrote there - never saved them either. You even know how many posts you had there . . . that is amazing!!
Well let us know the task results at the end of the month! I'll have to go see what I need to recover anything there . . . I want to see if my stuff is clogging up the cyperworld archives somewhere out there .
Happy New Year to you and your family . . . hope all your plans pan out well . . . enjoy 2017 to the fullest!!

@much2say "I was just on pins and needles there' - If you really miss the sensation, then I might have an Iron Maiden or rack or something that would fit your needs in my dungeon torture chamber, which I could loan you on here ... and just because it is you, I will waive the nominal fee I generally charge for said use.

@sishy7 Oh my gosh - your spreadsheet . . . but of course as you are so darn organized . . . sheesh and the statistics too? Do you have that for myLot as well? I am highly impressed !
Was it super shocking to you the day it shut down the way it did? I suppose we all knew it would come some day - but it's sad it went down like that. Thank goodness we were able to come back here - what timing!
May we all prosper in all areas in life in this new year !

I don't know if you remember or not - I have a Bubblews spreadsheet saved on my computer with all my statistics there... Very easy for me to see how many posts I had... I can even see I intended to submit a couple more posts but then the site closed down on me out of the blue...
Happy New Year to you and your family too! More success, health, and happiness to you and your loved ones...

Sounds like a brilliant plan and if I ever get time then I will go and find his post and see what I can find of mine. If there is anything worth recovering then it might appear here too

There are a few tutorials I've done that I'd love to find again. Just have to figure out how everyone is finding so much when I've not found a darn thing yet.

My Wayback Machine must be broken, because I cannot find a single thing of mine on Bubblews.

@sishy7 LOL - I wasn't on there, which might explain why my Wayback Machine is not working.

Uhm... sishy? I've been explaining to different people how to find and capture their old posts from Bubbs on the WayBack Machine for over a year now... How have you missed seeing that on so many different posts here on myLot?
All you had to do was ask...
Edit to add: Okay, something is very wrong here. I explained to so many people how to find their profile on Bubbs using the WayBackMachine, but I see some of them on this post saying they didn't know they could access their old posts??? WTF?
When I was still on Bubbs I had the Internet Archive crawl every one of my Bubbles. You can tell it what to crawl so it can be retrieved later. I don't understand what is the big deal here. (I make copies of my Bubbles when I wrote them, so I didn't need to use the Archive to retrieve anything. I just wanted to make sure they were stored in case I misplaced them when the site went belly up!)

Yes, I knew that the Wayback Machine can be used to find old posts but I never got the hang on how to use it. I never knew that we can tell it what to crawl. When I was given the link to my Bubblews profile page, it just took me back to the time when I wrote the posts. No big deal really, other than just feeling a bit nostalgic, I guess...

@DaddyEvil And some did check myLot out but for whatever reasons they did not stay...
I hope you're enjoying the weekend!

@sishy7 Yeah, that is how I feel when I use the WayBack Machine, too. (I like it to crawl everything I post online. That way I always have a record of it I can refer back to, if needed.)
The nostalgia posts kill me.... I miss a lot of the people I knew on Bubbs who didn't decide to transition over to myLot with me.

I'm glad I ran across this older post. It would be of interest to me since I wasn't able to save the ones that I wanted. I tried that machine before but didn't come up with anything. If you're coming up with this many, I wonder if I didn't utilize the site correctly. Does lamby give an explanation, or have you figured this out yourself?

I don't know how to use the web archive site either... Lamb gave me a link to my Bubblews profile page captured and saved by the site. And I use the captures as a starting point to try to find as many posts as I can. I will look for your username on there and will see if it leads to your saved profile page as well... I'll let you know!

@MarshaMusselman Yes, it does take a bit of poking around the different links available on the captured page. I tried a couple of pulses that I created on there and they led me to more of my posts too. Don't worry about the mixed up, it's all good as far as I'm concerned...

@sishy7 I was able to find my page after jj gave me the link to the main news page there. None of my posts were on that one page, but I checked out a comment Janet made on one of them and found a comment I made and was able to follow that link to my own page. Many of mine weren't crawled enough to be on the wayback machine, but I have found a few already that I'd not run across before.
I'm also following trails via the five favorite posts on the bottom of each post. Some of those have appropriate links while others don't.
Lol, I left comment here and on jj's post and it looks like I got a bit mixed up on who exactly I was commenting too earlier today.

Yes, I have some in Word files too. But seeing the actual writing as it was posted on the site was quite nostalgic because I could see what happened at that particular captured moment - how many likes/views/comments and all the comments too. I notice pictures were missing on my posts though...

I should do that too- but it would be so tedious as you say- where are all those posts anyway---in cyberspace somewhere or LaLaLand! ha!

Fortunately I removed anything of mine with a shelf-life before the site closed down. I think it is a very good idea to reuse any of that material here. There is only so much that most of us can find to say about our everyday lives. Having said that, I have so far only recycled one of my old Bubblews posts here so I really must have a look at those others.

@sishy7 There was so much plagiarism within Bubblews that I wonder if posts from there were ever lifted by people for their outside blogs, etc. I would run any old posts through a checker just in case anyone stole them.
