How can you prepare yourself for your father's inevitable death? My father has ALS (Amyothropic Lateral Sclerosis), diagnosed last Dec. 2015, now, he has no more body movement. Doctors are not hopeful. I am very close to my father, and I don't really know how I can deal with it.

You have to try to deal with it. Be strong for your family, especially for your father. By doing this, you support your father's well being. Just act normal but be close to him, and spend more time with him. Take care.

@Dobidoy I know... I've been there before so I know what it is like...Keep being strong, and pray if you believe in God.

@atoz1to10 we believe in God. We do pray. But sometimes it really hard to accept it, my kids love their grandfather so much. And seeing him turning to a non mobile person hurts them a lot.

I am so sorry that you are all going through this. It is a very cruel disease. My family doctor passed a way from it a few years ago. It was heartbreaking. He was just a young man. All you can do it be there for him because even though his body movements are gone his mind is still there and he still needs you. I can not even begin to imagine how painful it must be for you to see him this way. Just treasure the time that you do have with him as difficult as that may be.

I thought being a volunteer for 5 years in the local hospital would have prepared me for something like this. I have seen and attended to many patients with different ailments and emergencies, but having one of my family members experience a very cruel disease is really breaking me.
