We are getting close. #2 in my Favorite Rockies Players series is one of my all time favorite baseball players, right fielder Larry Walker.
Larry Walker played nine seasons with the Colorado Rockies. Walker was already having a great career with the Montreal Expos when he came to Colorado, and he didn't disappoint Rockies fans. While wearing a Rockies uniform, Larry Walker was a four time All Star, a five time Gold Glove winner, he won two Silver Slugger Awards, and was a three time National League Batting Champion. Oh, and he won an ESPY in 1998 as Best Baseball Player!
Walker's best Rockies season was in 1997, when he had a .366 batting average, with 49 home runs, 130 runs batted in, and 409 total bases. He was both the National League Home Run Leader and Most Valuable Player.
I have two favorite Walker moments. During a game against the Cubs, Walker was playing first base. He and Cubs first baseman Mark Grace kept scrawling messages in the dirt for each other until both managers put a stop to it (funny!) Second, in a close game against the Pirates, with everyone expecting him to swing for the fences, Walker laid a perfect game winning bunt down the third base line. That was a fun game to attend.
I loved watching Larry Walker play. I hope voters can get past the Denver thin air bias and put him in the Hall of Fame, where he belongs.

I knew Walker was coming. The Denver air did jack up his stats. He went from above average at Montreal to basher in Denver. He won't make the HOF because he doesn't have the stats. Just 2100 hits and 300 homers. He falls into that Steve Garvey-Dale Murphy-Don Mattingly-Jeff Bagwell zone.

@teamfreak16 I didn't know that. Must have been at the end of his end. He was great for several years in Atlanta.

@JohnRoberts - Yeah. He was great in Atlanta. He retired very quickly after he got here. I was at the game for his retirement ceremony.
