Seeing also as money was a part of my New Year's goals -- here are some money saving tips I enjoy that may be useful to other people too.
Cut out coupons-
it is worth the time and effort to save some cents, it counts up.
Don't over use coupons-
However don't get sucked in to buying coupon deals that you wouldn't normally use. Sometimes just because it's a good deal doesn't mean it's worth it.
Buy at the Dollar Store -
I have found that dollar store cleaners, dish soap, bleach, cards, are a great deal.
Don't overuse the dollar store-
However I have found that certain dollar store deals aren't really that good of a deal. Some items there is less quantity, less strength, less durable etc.
Check out thrifting-
Many good deals on clothing and housewares can be had at thrift stores, and you can wash your clothes in liquid Lysol to disinfect them from previous owners
Don't go over the top with thrift -
However buying things that are washer worn, or things that aren't your style just because they're cheap doesn't turn out to be a good deal either.
Sign up for "gas clubs" at your local gas stations. Sometimes it can save you cents a gallon, however don't do it if it requires you to open a gas credit card, as you're likely to pay more in fees than you would saving a few cents here and there.
Hope some of these help you guys too, feel welcome to share your favorite money saving tips.

Frugal isn't synonymous with cheap, so don't fall into the trap of always buying the least expensive option. With a lot of things, you get what you pay for. Take the time to evaluate the quality of the item and how long it will last you. Paying more upfront for a product that will last for years is usually a lot better than buying a cheaper one that you need to replace every year.

That's a very good point too, not one that many people think of when thinking of ways to be frugal. Thanks for sharing

I've often wondered how much I saved through the years. I know both BP and SA offers a savers club, though... Holiday I think it is - offers a credit card which I didn't feel was a good deal

Many of these are Great tips. Lately though it is cheaper at one of the other Grocery stores than the ones that offer the Gas discounts so we choose the cheaper groceries. Good quality on meats, etc there anyways. I am not a Thrift Store person for most things as Dollar Tree is usually way cheaper for a lot of things, and when it comes to clothes it has to be New. Usually shop good sales or Clearance items. But learning to be Thrifty where you can is always a Great help.

So true, and I like having more of it, rather than less :-)

Knowing when to spend and when it is not is a good way to save money. I also need to be thrifty as I think of moving from our house.

I find that coupons often don't help as I just don't buy those products--but there are a lot of dollar store items that I buy and you are right--the cleansers are a great deal there!

These are good ideas. I've never heard of having coupons in Australia but big stores offer loyalty cards.
