Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Is it too much to want Happiness in your life?
For me personally there could be a lot of times and things going on in order to make me unhappy and frustrated, but I am choosing especially now more in 2017 to quit worrying about all the little things. Yes we have a lot of issues going on at this time, and a lot of them are serious like with Financial but we are allowing God to be in control and hope for Great things from there.
But when you are feeling down there are lots of things you can do to help change that. Reading a book, watching a movie, do something you enjoy. What are some of the things that help you?

My 'mantra' is It is not how much you have but what you make of what you have is the route to happiness.

That's a good one. I never think of that before. I will remember what you say.

@averygirl72 Our wants are endless and if we keep chasing them we will never be happy.

I'm not sure this helps me right now. I'm feeling down right now. I have been working hard with daily exercise. After 20 years with fibromyalgia my husband still thinks I can get better and that exercise will help. I am in a lot of pain right now and the people in my house are not very helpful. I feel so alone right now and it's hard to make any effort when you can barely move. I chatted with my husband briefly but that just made me sadder. I had such high hopes for accomplishments for this year but it's starting off pretty bad.

How I can relate. There are days when my husband thinks I should be able to do more and why is the house a mess, etc. It would be nice if the ones who do not understand could trade us for a couple of days but I am sure many of them could not handle it as on our Good days we hurt more than most would ever want to tolerate. Why is there not a Cure?

@patgalca and the main issue is when you try taking medications and they flare the Fibromyalga even worse or you can't take most meds it really makes it worse. My Doctor is Great, But I know he is one in about a million when it comes to caring and wanting to try and help and will look up a medication before trying it.

@KrauseHome The first doctor that gave me the official diagnosis 20 years ago said "Exercise and in 6 months you'll be better". That statement burns me to the core. So many people still believe that is the answer. The problem is that it is an immune illness, it is a central nervous system illness, it is a muscular illness. Not just one but 3. It's hard to find a cure when so many different control systems are involved.

Isn't that the Truth. For me I Love to Write so that is why I chose to come back here.

When I'm in a rut I put on upbeat music. For me I mostly listen to Christian radio, but we have some Christian CD's too that work well. Singing uplifting songs gets me into a thankful mode and when we're thankful for what we have it's easier to let the other things go.
Worrying about upcoming needs doesn't do those needs any good and does more harm than good for the worrier. Phil 4:6 says to be careful (kjv) for nothing, which means to be anxious for nothing, but to pray about everything. When we offer our needs up in prayer and sing and make melody in our hearts, then we're trusting God to cover whatever it is and take care of it for us. Our problem is that we want the answer now or at a certain time, and tend to give up or take back our need if it isn't being taken care of quick enough when God has the answer right after that if we'd only be a bit more patient.

@KrauseHome I don't usually listen to it to relax but to get in the mood to get something done. Singing the Word is a great way to keep it in mind though.

None of my close friends live around me so I would have to drive to them or meet them somewhere but having friends you can walk with and talk too is always nice.

@KrauseHome I found a walking group with Meetup.com and made new friends that live in this area. All my old friends are not near here.

When I am feeling down I like to exercise or go for a walk. Walking is a great way to be alone with my thoughts and sort through life's problems. I also like chatting to friends online, that usually lifts my spirits.

Wish I could do more walking. Since I have Fibromyalga I usually only do a lot of excess walking when I have my husband with me so I have someone to lean on and help me if I need it.

I know that money does not make happiness. It can't buy good health and that for me is the most important thing.
When I look around and see people begging, fishing for things in the trash cans in the street or dealing with ailing relatives, I realise that I am lucky with what I have and that makes me happy
If I am particularly sad, I usually stop everything and take myself out for a walk. That is a distraction that works for me.

Yes it is sad to see what others have to go thru and it often helps me appreciate what I have more as well.

several things, usually 'listening to comedians' (genre "COMEDY" at the bottom of the linked page)
Another thing is 'looking up the etymology of words.' And--though I probably didn't look up "happy"--I looked up "hap" (since it's in so many words). So it's obvious that 'happiness' means "being cool with however things go."
Music for every moment. Spotify is a digital music service that gives you access to millions of songs.

I like what you said. I have a problem making myself happy. I always feel miserable. I will just keep on remembering fun times I had. I will try to enjoy life and let God take charge with all my problems.

Yes, and remembering to find what works best for you. I know many times when a person is dealing with depression there are times it is hard to look and think of something as Great but when you find things you enjoy doing like Writing, etc it is a definite plus.

So glad for me I have moved away from just $$. Since we are really struggling Financially right now, this would bring more Depression and anxiety from now having enough.

Just as long as you are taking time for you. That is most important.
