Suddendeath poetry challenge, Flaky

January 7, 2017 8:36am CST
Welcome to this weekend’s Suddendeath poetry challenge, Flaky! Anyways, rules are as follows, write a poem in any style using the five words that I give you. Write it in one sitting or in under an hour (only to quash your inner editor, rules are loose there). Add it here, OR link in a comment so we can enjoy each other’s' poems. The words can be in any plurality or tense. Today’s words are: flake, odd, goofy, peculiar, wacky. My entry is always, below: Things that are peculiar are often more interesting, for they don't conform to rules made by the boring. Odd is their bread and butter for life, the thing they go off for exploring. Goofy they may seem as they trundle along, but song and soul to the world they are actually pouring. For variety is the spice that makes the world stop tasting flat, the odd snowflakes are those who by their creative souring wacky to some but wondrous if one really sees the wonder of the world and the color they are restoring.

She whirls in the uptake of warm air glass flakes welded to copper not at all equipped to be handled by a goofy child the heart's warm then cooler peculiarly brilliant hues glorying in its odd beauty riding its wacky Alice In Wonderland rivulet I smile as January soldiers on.

"The Magic Prison" I will die in here In this close-fitting prison I will find my end The sun beats down hot The prison's skin sheds flakes Of old latex paint I start to feel odd Dehydration takes its toll Peculiar thoughts rise They wanted Goofy A wacky friend for children In this magic place But there's little pay And the heat is just too much I will die in here

flake, odd, goofy, peculiar, wacky. I remember a time when we used to goof around a lot. You were odd, peculiar, and wacky. I was young and silly. We sure did mess around a lot. Then, they told me you are flakey. The sort that preys on innocent minds and naivety. That sent me running for hills, To this day, you still give me the chills.

Indeed and I agree and like it: we do need spice and a less flat planet.

Yours and the one about "Magic Prison are excellent! Reflections While snowflakes fall in a mad windy whirl I think of the goofy among us, those wacky ones who see things askew most think are straight. It is those odd ones who bring smiles when they stitch together laughter from the peculiar tweets and snorts of those who fail to see the clown in their own mirror.

I wish I could enter this under an alias. I have this odd, peculiar feeling I think I may flake out I don't know what has caused it But it's bad there is no doubt I'm goofy in the head And my brain is out of whack I think I'll take an aspirin And then I'll hit the sack.

Silent and soft, delicate and slow Scattered around are the flakes of snow Sitting here by the window, It looks rather odd indeed That I try and pen a few goofy words From which springs a poem, wacky and weird.

right? I felt the need to remind that differences and uniqueness are what make the world interesting. And leave it so someone could write another winter poem if they wanted, lol
