Winter weather cause injuries and power outage

Aberdeen, North Carolina

Here in north carolina, so far there has been over 400 injuries due to the winter storm. Not to mention 18,000 without power. But of course were I live everything seems to always go around us.(Robeson county) We never get any snow we always get just a little ice. Never lastes 5min. So were kinda lucky. Hopefully it'll clear up soon and these families will have power back on. Because its way to cold to not have any electricity. Prayers going out for all these families. How bad did the snow hit were your from?

It is so terrible what happens when the weather changes! People need to stay off the road if at all possible. Hope our power does not go out this year!

Sorry it's so awful there. No snow here, rarely even any rain since I'm in Phoenix. It's boring as hell here, weather wise. I finally found out why everyone is always saying before a storm to stock up on milk, bread and eggs. I've heard that all my life, even when I lived in the Midwest, and wondered why in the world anyone would buy that rather than a more balanced cart full of food. Yesterday someone said on the radio to stock up on those things so "y'all can have yer french toast!" Well, I never thought of that and it was served a couple times a week in my house when I was growing up! Do you know if that's why they say to stock up on that stuff or is it some other reason?

@Brittnyrose I always bought extra water besides what I had in reserve, canned goods, shelf stable dinners, peanut butter, and stuff. I would had to survive on milk, bread, and eggs!

Where I'm from they always say to stock up on bread and milk. And when I tell you they do, we run out you can't find bread and milk anywhere. But they do that for when we loss power or something major goes down we still have something to survive off and not starve. But they make it more of a big deal then it really is.

I sure feel thankful that we are having a pretty mild winter again so far. We did have a bit of a storm that took out hundreds of people's electricity recently.

No snow here. My sister lives in Hoke County and she said they didn't get barely anything. My parents live in Cumberland County and they didn't get anything either really.

I heard there was a blizzard warning out for the coast that went all the way up to Norfolk (where I was stationed in the 80s). The only bad snowstorm we had there was the day I reenlisted...in April.

We are used to snow and cold where I am. We do lose power in a major storm sometimes. I hope those people get their power back on soon. Stay warm.
