Diary Saturday 7th January 2017
A very quiet day when I chose not to go out to save money. I was also quite tired and lethargic, falling asleep many times during the day, as my insomnia sleep balance caught up with me.
I phoned my mum in the early evening which was nice.
Diary Sunday 8th January 2017
Awake again today and it was the first creative writing workshop of the year and well attended after the Xmas break. We had to send out for extra chairs and briefly got locked in the Ham & Jam Café meeting room when a door handle snapped but we were quickly liberated by the staff. The workshop, run by Leanne Dempsey, was very productive and interesting too.
Afterwards I had a quick pint in the nearby Guild Ale house and caught the bus home.

James Patterson will probably teach you how to write nothing but get other people to do it for you and take the lions share of the cash

@Mike197602 The course wasn't very expensive, And I imagine he's got something to teach, as long as he's been in the business.

@DWDavis Business is the operative word here.
I do not think he has anything to teach regarding writing as such as, in my opinion, he's average at best in the mystery/thriller genre.
But as for the business aspect of writing I'd say he has a lot of knowledge...he's made a brand name for himself writing nothing but getting better authors to do his work.
As you may have guessed, I am not a fan.
When I used to buy paper books I found patterson to be poor value for money as he had/has extremely short chapters with more blank paper than words.
I'd be interested in hearing more about this course though

@Mike197602 yes my contract finished on Christmas Eve - not impossible they could invite me back but not too likely as things are quiet there now

@arthurchappell Now you are used to work you need to get back into it asap...in my opinion.
I had no job for a decade but now I've got one I couldn't imagine going back to no work
Go on trip advisor and find the best hotel in your area and see if they have any jobs...hotels ALWAYS seem to be hiring.
I did it and it worked out very well for me

yes though part of me feels as if I wasted all sorts of opportunities too - my mind thinks sleep is missing out on life @Jessicalynnt

@Jessicalynnt I never liked condensed products like condensed soups - it's like having a whole meal in a pill like they did on early Star Trek - I'd still want the full meal or a full 8 hours sleep

@arthurchappell yeah, I just wish when I did sleep I went under well enough that I got better sleep while I slept, like more condensed

Mostly I've stayed home and inside. It's been too cold to spend much time outside.
