My missus got up this morning to go to work only to discover the plant manager had decided to close the plant because road conditions northwest of here are much worse than they are here. The plant, and most of the employees live in that area. So did she come back to bed? No, she got dressed and told me she was headed off to work. Not wanting to sleep the day away, and hoping to get a couple more lessons on my writing course done today, I got up when she left and got ready to "go to work" myself. Just before I was ready to head downstairs I received a text from my missus telling she was at work. The timing of the text should have made me suspicious. She'd only been gone about twenty minutes. On a normal day it takes her thirty-five minutes to get to work. Sure enough, when I went downstairs, she was in our home office logged in on her work computer crunching numbers. Technically, she was at work. Even though the plant is closed, the daily financial work must still get done. Fortunately, my missus is able to telecommute to work on days like this. Unfortunately for me, this means I am banned from the home office for the day. I am forced to work here in the living room while sitting in my recliner in front of the electric fireplace, with my feet up and my dog Ace by my side. Woe is me, having to work in such Dickensian conditions. I'll be popping in and out between writing lessons today. I hope everyone stays safe and warm and enjoys a productive day. How are you spending this Monday? P.S. The photo is one of my own available on Pixabay.

This weather is getting more weird by the day. The south is becoming the north and the north is becoming the south, weather wise. It's 22 here in the Chicago area no ice no snow. Have a great day and stay warm.

Our high today is supposed to be about 33F/0C. By Friday our high is expected to be 71F/22C. That should melt whatever vestige of snow and ice remains.

I'm trying out a new sewing pattern....like I need to start something new. I justify it though, I've finished four projects in the last nine days and this one will be finished today.

I know a lot of people who would love to be able to work from home like your wife is doing. But it sounds like you're going to need a long nap after all that hard work you'll be doing with Ace and writing lessons. That is a beautiful photo, did they pay you anything for it?

You are welcome @DWDavis it's a shame they didn't pay but that's the nature of most photography, if you're not with National Geographic's you probably won't get paid for your art.

Ace is the one who gets to take a nap. He's snoozing in the midst of all his toys as I type. Thanks for your kind words about the photo. I've not been paid anything yet. Pixabay doesn't pay for photos normally, but folks who use them have an option to offer a gratuity to the photographer, only no one has, yet.

Hope she got some work done! And you as well. Or that you just went back to bed. I do a lot of my progress notes at home and print them out at work. My "home office" is really just a desk, though.

Our "home office" is supposed to be our dining room. We've never used it for a dining room in the 22 years we've lived in this house.

@DWDavis My Sunday night movie friends use their "dining room" as a storage area.

Thank you. That picture is from last winter, but I thought it appropriate for today's conditions. And it saved me from going out in the cold to take a new one. Is it chilly down your way, or are y'all far south enough the cold front didn't reach you?

@DWDavis I'm nice and warm way down in Southern Florida. We had two cooler nights, but the days crept up to the mid 60s.

My heart bleeds for you - NOT! It's good your wife can work from home. It's all very well being forced to take a day off work but it doesn't get the work done.

Our school schedule is so messed up already after Hurricane Matthew that we really didn't need this snow/ice day. Now I've heard the school is closed tomorrow, too, because some of the roads in the county still haven't been cleared.

That is awesome she can stay home and get her work done! I actually think how you are spending your work day in front of the fire sounds better then in the home office. You lucked out :-)

It is freezing here in North East Georgia which has kept some snow on the ground. My husband is off work today and we are just staying inside. That is nice that your wife can telecommute when necessary for her job.

We had another day where the temp didn't get above freezing. Some of the rural roads in the county are still not clear, so there will be no school tomorrow, either.

How chilly did things get down your way? My son lives in Shreveport, LA, and they were at 19F/(-7C) the other morning.

Well, the schools are still closed today and after seeing your 15 degree temp, we're having a veritable heat wave at 23 degrees. Try to keep working in your freezing and deplorable conditions.

We've been getting warmer since the sun finally came up. 22(F)/(-6(C)) now. The amazing thing is temps are supposed to be in the low 70s by Friday.

The temps here have recovered well, it will be 47 degrees today and we will go up everyday till we get to 73 on Friday. I am going to work but I only work a couple hours this afternoon. But my morning was filled with phone calls to make. Enjoy those rough working conditions.

It is so cold here this morning. I felt bad for all the little kids walking or school or standing outside waiting for their buses to arrive. It was -33C(-28F) here this morning and it is not much better now. I am at work and the boss doesn't have any heat on so it is pretty chilly in here today. It was on earlier but it turned it off and it didn't take long to cool off. Enjoy your day!

It has never gotten that cold here, though a few years ago we did drop below 0F a couple of mornings. Our students would never be able to handle it. For some of them the warmest thing they have to wear is a hooded sweatshirt over a t-shirt. We have a coat drive every year, but some of the parents take the coats and sell them for whatever they can get.

Telecommuting is such a convenience. Can't wait to have my own home office though I doubt if much work will be done there! Already Tuesday here in Manila and it is going fine so far!

I actually prefer working at my desk if I have a lot of writing to do, but I will force myself to enjoy my exile to the living room.
