Is Chennai the next happening place in IT?

India

One of the oldest metros in India, and the Capital of South India is now in for a major transformation. After Bangalore and Hyderabad, the metro is now emerging a fast competitor for the Global IT and Manufacturing companies to set up their base here in India. Gone are the days of Conservatism, shell like culture of Madras now Chennai, this is evident from the tall skyscrapers, rising buildings, flats, etc. Even most of the manufacturing majors like Hyundai, Nokia, Mahindra n Mahindra, etc are setting up huge facilities here. So is IT (Chennai) the next happening place?

your hope is mine and that of many others too. It is already happening with the entire corridor on the highways being developed into IT SEZ's etc. It is a happening place.

No you can be sure my dear friend, if you can see the way the IT companies, the BPO companies, the ITES companies and the Auto Majors are setting up shops with bases and hubs in Chennai. Also the Global Banks like ABN Amro, Amex, Bank of America, etc. have set up their back offices in India, and that too in Chennai. Besides, the hard working attitude of the people is to be appreciated for this.

Thanks for the agreement, and I am sure the proof is in the pudding, that so many global majors like Auto manufacturing, IT companies, ITES companies, etc. have set up their bases or head offices in India and that too in Chennai.

Yes, today Chennai can boast of Cognizant, I-Flex, Wipro, Infosys, TCS, etc. and also of BPO and ITES industry like Tiger paper, ABN Amro Enterprises, Amex Global Back office, etc. The difference is clearly seen and with IT corridors coming up on the East Coast Road, and other IT parks around Chennai. So it is aye to Chennai.

Chennai is the best place of Information Technology and knowledge process outsourcing. I myself work as equity analyst for a fund that invest in North American and European markets. There are abundant opp for MBAs and CAs. No need to mention abt software. Most of the southies are brainy.. Long live Chennai and flavour of our culture with the modern blend.

You are absolutely dot on target and thanks for your agreeing view on Chennai as the IT hub. Sky is the limit for opportunities in Chennai and with this platform offering the same, Chennai should soon replace other cities as the happening IT centre.

Gone are those days of conservative madras and all that stuff. Now Chennai is a major power as far as automobile industry and IT industry. Bangalore and Hyderabad are left far behind now by chennai. hats off to chennai and its people.

yes you are absolutely right, Chennai and its' people have been able to break the shackles of conservatism and are showing they are able to take on modernism. This is very evident from the fact that Auto majors like Ford, Hyundai, Mahindra, etc. have all set up their main manufacturing hub there, so also the IT and BPO majors like Cognizant, I-flex, Tiger paper, etc. have set up their base at Chennai. It is right say hats off to Chennai and it's people, as they despite the various hardships like lack of drinking water, the horrible weather and climate, are willing to work hard and sincerely. They are also more than willing to give their best and have shown that they can be more productive than their modern peers elsewhere.
