Why Are You On MyLot?

When I first joined I was learning everything about the community.
What people liked to talk about, how they interacted with each other, so on and so forth.
I started a few discussions to test out the waters, I guess you could say. Things were really great when I first started on MyLot, I got a lot of responses and it seemed like people really cared about what we all had to say.
Getting that impression, I started up a few series, advice, journals, and poems.
Once I started these, more intimate and deeper, discussions I started to lose readers and responses. There were still some people that were following the few series I had, and no matter if people responded or not I still kept posting because I originally joined to get my writing out there for people to read and enjoy.
I have always wanted to make a difference, even if it is in just ONE life, I feel like I have accomplished something if I have made someone's day.
Story time; I went to a small restaurant where I live, and I gave the waitress a tip that she didn't even expect...she was near to crying because I had made a difference in her day...
That is what I have always wanted to do with writing, and so I have always felt at home on this website because it is so open to whatever people feel like discussing. The money that is earned on here was never TOO important as long as someone left my profile with a smile.
As you can see, there are many reasons why I love MyLot, but there are minimal reasons why I get uncomfortable. People have responded more to posts about meaningless topics than what I came here for, but that will never stop me. I'm here to make a difference, even if it's as small as a grain of sand.
So, this brings me to question, why are you on MyLot?

Like @MALUSE I was on Bubblews. When that went downhill, I looked at a number of other sites and this has been the best and most long-lasting. I write professionally elsewhere but enjoy coming on here to converse and also to occasionally post the odd short piece that I couldn't really find a home for anywhere else. And the fact that there is a small amount of money as well rather sets it apart from Facebook.
It's a shame that your more substantial posts haven't attracted the response you were hoping for. I think sometimes that may be down to the pace here, where sometimes people prefer to 'post and run', rather than stop and think about something requiring a more considered reply.

@AnnaAutopsy My other writing has mostly not been online but, over the years, comedy for radio and live performers, speechwriting and some articles for hard copy publications. I have been a member on Infobarrel for some years but have never posted there, mainly because they are not keen on first-person articles. Some here write on Niume but you need to attract a large readership there to get paid. Some sites disappear or get bought out/merged, some go from fairly high profile to no longer paying. And there is always the option to start a blog. Readership may be small but they will be people visiting it because they want to.

@asfarasiknow Wow! You have accomplished so much, that is amazing.
That sounds really great, today I decided to start a blog and I'm waiting for my profile to get approved.
How did you find your path to getting so many great things accomplished?

I have to agree with that! If you don't mind me asking, what other writing websites are you a part of? I have been trying to find more but most just never work out because I'm either limited and told what I can and cannot write, or they're scams. I haven't had the best of luck until I found this website.

a friend of mine from my very first job introduced me to MyLot... she told me about this discussion page 7 years ago.. way back when i started, i just post discussions after the other not thinking about participating in as many discussions as possible.. NOW, i understood more about the guidelines of MyLot. i am more active here now cause this has become my outlet and/or alternative in sharing my thoughts, adventures, my photography and most importantly, I am Earning!

That sounds fantastic! I never knew that this was open that long, I must have had my head in the sand.
I heard about this site from another called ChatAbout, I'm not even sure if they are still up and running or not because every time I try to go there again the website never shows up.
In any case, I'm glad that you're enjoying MyLot now, and congrats on the 7 years of being a member!

To type random stuff and interact with people that I otherwise wouldn't be able to interact with, I guess. I don't plan to change the world or have any major goals being here. It's just fun to be able to do this while I'm on the Internet doing other things that I have to do anyway.

Here for a good social site while getting a few extra bucks from it. The interaction and the whole atmosphere of the community is really great!
