Never underestimate the strength of a woman..

When I was a young mother of three boys, I became very aware of how big my responsibility was in bringing up my boys to grow up with respect for others specially for women and children.. Because I have always looked up to men for protection and security even though I grew up always on the guard protecting myself from men... But still, to my mind, men will always be the security and the protector...
Every time I hear men abusing women, I can't help thinking what kind of mothers brought up these men?..
If you have lived with a man who is consumed by how women are and should be subordinate to men, how women should behave according to the command of a male god, how women should be seen in public, how women should look or not look at others especially men, when a mother should stop being affectionate towards her sons, you can't help wonder what kind of mother brought up such a man...
I believe, that by nature, boys are more emotionally insecure than girls.. That is probably why in the news we hear, there are more boys who fall victims to all sorts of abuses because they are more trusting towards anybody who would show them affection that they never got from their parents especially from their mothers..Mothers have enormous responsibility in moulding young boys into becoming respectful gentle men...
In families (societies) where women are treated like second class citizens, where mothers have no say in bringing up their children, the violence against women are more horrendous .. Just thinking of that horrible gang rape in India on the news a couple or more years ago..And a few years ago , here in Australia , a group of more than ten young men gang raped a young girl. Two of the rapists were siblings.. Again, I asked what kind of mothers brought up these boys??
Now, as a mother of adult men, I can honestly say how happy and at peace I am with myself knowing that the boys I brought up on my own grew up gentle and respectful towards others especially towards women and children ...
I am grateful that under very difficult circumstances, I managed to fight for my right to be treated equal and my right as a mother to protect my children... I was prepared to be surviving with my children on my own rather than for my sons to grow up with a weak suppressed mother... That was my number one concern at that time...
Never ever underestimate the strength of a woman..
Bess..

This is a wonderful post. I believe that women should not be underestimated. Just like men, we all have our own power too. I admire all mothers. I think that they are the strongest persons in the world. Being a mother is a big responsibility. At my age right now, I am not yet sure if I can be a mother. Anyway, what books are you reading now?

I'm proud of my sons more than they are proud of me I think .. But I believe that they are grateful for the way I raised them ..

Yes, with boys, I really believe that they need a strong woman to show them how to respect and protect women ..

I agree. Moral and character building starts at home. I always admire mothers who manage to raise respectful, well-mannered children because not everyone can bear that responsibility. You sound like a wonderful mom and I'm sure your children are proud of you!

Men and women are equally responsible for the betterment of our society. A man is a woman's protector and woman is a man's first teacher as a mother.

I agree.. but unfortunately not everyone think the same .. Some men don't have as much love and respect for women and some women are the same ...
