Dogs and Their Toys

We have two dogs which add to our family dynamics. I have a basket in the living room which is strictly filled with dog toys. There's a variety of stuff including bones, stuffed animals, pull toys and ropes. I swear I pick these dog toys up off the floor more than I ever did when my children were little. Our male dog Gizmo is the culprit. No matter how many times I neatly put the toys back in the basket he's over there pulling everything out again. Seems he's not happy unless all his stuff is scattered around the floor. Our female Mush (named caused she's just a big old mush) just watches him and has no interest in any of the toys. She'd rather sleep than play. It's funny how both dogs have their own personalities.

I don't put Ruby's toys back until the end of the day, then I know she won't be pulling things out again.

We notice that here too. What makes one happy has no appeal for the others.

Each animal has a distinctive personality. My husband had a cat who was the sweetest I have ever seen, while the two Siamese cats of my Mil reminded me a lot the two Siamese of "Lady and the Trump".

All pets seem to develop their own personalities. You need to train Gizmo to pick up his toys on command and return them to the toy basket.

I know what you mean. I've never had a truly lazy dog but as they get older they do calm down a little.

Dogs can be funny about their toys. Our Brittany, Ginger, could care less for toys. Ace, on the other hand, loves plush toys that squeak. He'll chase them all over the house if I keep tossing them for him. When he gets tired of one, he'll put it in his crate and bring me another. Once the squeaker gives out, he'll stop playing with that toy.

Yes it is, just like children, no two alike. Too bad he can't be trained to put the toys back.

Our dog played with her toys when she was younger....but now that she is elderly the toys are ignored. I finally just put them away.

Yes, animals have their own personalities. My grand doggies have a woven basket of toys at my house. When one takes a toy out, the other one does, too. Doodles has his own stash, too.
