His speech is improving

Canada

My son turned 3 last August and is speech delayed. We have been doing speech therapy with him for about a year now. The results in the beginning weren't that great, but lately he is showing more and more improvement. Just this morning he tried to say 'crocodile' when one appeared on the TV. It wasn't perfectly clear, but enough so you knew what he was trying to say. And then when I asked where we were going, he tried to say 'early years center'. Someone who doesn't know him or our routine wouldn't have understood, but I could tell he was trying. We will start meeting with a resource consultant tomorrow to work on more strategies to get him ready for school, which he will start in September. If he were starting tomorrow, he wouldn't be even close to ready. Good thing we have time.

Glad to see that there are improvements. Speech therapy is such a wonderful thing. He will be ready by the time September rolls around.

Therapy along with our almost daily outings to the early years center have made a world of difference.

He can't be starting school in September! My son had a vocabulary of two or three words when he was two. Mama, dada, cookie and no. Everything else was a grunt and pointing his fingers.

It seems like yesterday he was just born, but he will be 4 this summer, and hopefully more ready for school by then. We do have a lot of work to do, including potty training.

Most times even without any speech delays it is hard for people to understand children that they are not around all the time. Boys seem to bo be slowly to talk well compared to girls. I hope your son continues to improve.

That is very true. I wanted to ensure we did what we could to help him succeed.

All the best friend. Your son will soon start talking normally like us. Being a mother of toddler, i know how painful it is

Thanks! I'm sure in time he will be just like his sisters and not stop talking.
