I pray that this is some made up story from fiction novel.. and as I read on the article I get more and more dissapointed.. What insanity is this? Is this the world we want to live in? What law allows such nonsense areests? Full article here:
Unfortunately, in the land of the free, handing out food to the homeless has become a revolutionary act and will get you kidnapped and caged.

I have heard some places have made it illegal to feed homeless people. I think it is so sad :-(

I understand that they could have a life too if they wanted it, but it's still not right to treat them like their no one.

This has been going on for quite some time. There is one man in Tampa that's been arrested several times over the past few years for feeding the homeless. Rather than help the homeless, Tampa wants to drive them away. I guess it's cheaper for them that way. They should be ashamed.

They should take care of the homeless not arrest people for doing their job..

This did happen this past weekend. The group did not have the necessary permits to distribute food in a public park, so they were arrested, after having been warned, so the city says. The fact is the group had done this hundreds of times before and no arrests had been made since 2004 over it. After the 2004 incident the law was changed, and in all the years since, the group has operated unmolested by law enforcement. The city claims that hosting the College Playoff Series National Championship Game the weekend the arrests were made had nothing to do with the police suddenly deciding to enforce the permit law, after 13 years of ignoring it. I think we all know better. Here's a link to the story from the local Tampa Bay paper:
TAMPA — Jimmy Dunson was scooping quinoa and mushrooms onto plates for a line of homeless people Saturday afternoon when the warning came.

I think the only thing that matters is that people want to help other people and the law is stopping that
