What is death

According to me death is one of the most ambiguous things. In my faith death is the separation of soul from the body, but i feel that there are many things that we don't know, sometimes when i think about my status before 2000 years from now, the answer comes "I wasn't exist", so that mean that i was dead.
What is your thoughts about death?
