Do you believe in God?

January 11, 2017 4:26pm CST
To be honest, I'm finding a hard time to believe in the concept of God as religion want us to. At the same time, I know many intelligent people who do believe in God as religions describes it, and it gets me confused: "What I'm missing here?" I would love to hear what you guys from all around the world think about religion and about the concept of "God"

I do believe in god and religion, when the religion is studied in depth, I believe it leads to peace, for me that's all what religion is about, learning to respect and others whatever they may be

I kind of agree. But that would be the OUTCOME of strong religious belief. Can we have respect for others, and love for others, without believing in God?

@suhail1 Nature can give up a very peaceful feeling also! I think "respecting others" has nothing do with religion. Look what's going on around the world. People from different religions hate each other! it has to do with the values one gets from his/her environment

@Jodysmith I do agree on your point. but for me that's hpw religion is and the more I tried to study the more I found peace, so I think it depends on person to person

I don't think that God is a concept but God is a reality (Creator, Father, Best friend). I believe everything in the Bible. I don't let a day go by without praying. So God is not something out there but someone very close to me that gives me strength, courage, hope and love.

I consider God as real and not merely a concept but do agree that religion and God are two different things. I think there is some value in the bible as it shows historically how religion came into being and you right it wasn't pretty.

I do, but only because I choose to. I Like the values taught in the Judeo-Christian tradition. But the psychologist in me is open to the possibiity that we invented God in our own image to give life meaning--and direction.

@TheHorse Still, there are some religious stories (specially these stories with the super powers) that I just can't believe. I do believe in God as a good energy

It is very hard to believe in God when you don't really see God. As for me, I believe in all Gods and that they teach us to be nice to other people.

I absolutely believe in God. I also do not believe He is simply a "concept" or a figment of one's imagination. From my earnest study of the Bible and seeing and understanding the reality of God in my life, I can unequivocally say I believe in God. Also, religion doesn't describe God, the Bible does.
