~Oh HECK NO-You Are Not Living Here!~

Another one of my husband's family members just called him saying their going to be evicted. They asked my husband if they could stay with us for a bit. My husband said HECK NO! He told her he just got rid of one family member from our house and he is NOT allowing anyone else to stay with us...at least not for a very LONG time! They would have been leaning on us for food and money. NOT happening, we are not rich! We have to help our own family now and be in peace. Sorry if this sounds rude to those who don't know what we just went through but...we have helped plenty and we are done for a bit.

It does not sound rude at all. You have a family to think about, and you need to do what is best for your immediate family before trying to help out extended family. Besides, if they are on the verge of getting evicted, then it does not sound like it would be a good decision for you to bring them into your home depending upon the reason for the impending eviction.

@LovingMyBabies If they don't pay their bills, then why would you want to have them in your home? Unless you are independently wealthy and have a bunch of money to spare, why would you want to bring more people into your home to support? It would be different if it was a temporary situation, such as they were waiting for Unemployment or some other income to start to be able to pay their bills, but that does not sound like the case here.

@purplealabaster Thank you for understanding. =) Yeah they are being evicted because they didn't pay their bills. From what I have heard her husband didn't want to work.

No no no - no more of that!! You've been generous and kind to help others in the recent past, but now it's gotta be all about your own family . . . like you said, to be in peace! It's not being rude at all . . . you gotta do what you gotta do to take care of your own family - that comes first. I am so glad your husband put his foot down on this one!!

@LovingMyBabies You definitely have enough on your plate - the least amount of stress the better. And yes, with another little one on the way, you'll want and need to focus on the little one as well as family.

@marlina Thank you. I think so too. We need calm and peace in our lives for a while now. We will always help when we can-but not in that way right now.

Kudos to your husband for putting his foot down on this one! Your family has been through enough! It's time that you got a little break from visiting relatives. Geez, does everybody think you guys are Hotel Freebie or something?

@moffittjc I know I am so grateful he said NO this time! We have always helped people and everyone knows it. We hate saying no but seriously we have had enough for a while. We have always said yes so it didn't go over well this time but my husband had to put his own family first this time and I am so glad he did!

@LovingMyBabies And it was right for him to say no this time. You just had a heck of a time with the previous family member, and you just moved, and you're pregnant. You guys need time to yourselves now, and need a break from playing host to everyone else.

Maybe they have not paid their rentals, that is why they were evicted. Hope they could learn from it.

Not your circus, not your monkey. That's the last thing you need. Make a commitment to yourselves right now: nobody outside of your nuclear family lives with you, period.

I fully support your husband's decision. He did what is best for your family. It may seem harsh, but sometimes the kindest thing you can do is say NO. Free loaders and moochers are had to displace once they get settled.

I've allowed people to stay in the past, and even if you like them it can cause a lot of stress. Different routines, different ways of doing things.. and you really just want space and privacy! Especially if you just got someone out, you need time for yourself for awhile.
