The Soft Colors Of The Morning

I have been sick the last three days and I stayed in bed most of the day yesterday.
This morning, when I saw a white shade coming inside through the closed shutters, I thought that I had overslept.
I got up to look outside and everything was covered by a white mantle of snow.
Soft warm lights came from the lampposts on the main road and from the surrounding houses.
It was a magic scene, that I tried to capture in a picture. The photo is a bit "grainy" because I have not opened the window glass, but it gives an idea.
Did you also get snow during the night?
Right now the sun is shining, the pure white of the snow almost hurts the eyes.

@LadyDuck That is a beautiful picture- it could be on the front of a Christmas card and how lovely where you live with the soft mountains in the background. I do hope you feel better soon!

We had snow during the night last night too. It is beautiful first thing in the morning before traffic and pedestrians mess it all up. The sun came out here later in the day and thawed a lot if it but what is left will be frozen now as the temperature has dropped a lot this evening.
I hope that you will soon be up and about again and your usual self!

@LadyDuck Stay indoors as the cold weather will do you no good at all! Here the sun is shining this orning but it is only 1°C and I plan to stay in too. If the su pushes the temperature over 5° then I will contemplate going out mid-afternoon but well covered up as there is still the gusty wind.

@mysdianait I told my mother not to go out for any reason, I have read that yesterday Milan was covered with ice and many people have fallen. What made me smile was the news that people had to wait up to 8 hours at the ER, as this was something unusual. When my sister in law was brought with an ambulance to the ER last November she waited all the night and two days before they found an empty room.

It's a stunning picture, I love it. Oddly enough this winter, so strange, the south of the US has had more snow than we have here in the Chicago area. I think we have had a total of 2 inches here. I hope you are feeling better soon.

@fishtiger58 They have cleaned the roads early in the morning, now only the private roads are still covered with snow. The teenagers of my neighbor are cleaning the private path we share. They are doing a good job.

Beautiful photo - here it was 57 at 5:30 am so if there is snow out there it would be some kind of miracle.

@LadyDuck The only time I ever shoveled snow was when I lived alone. That's is not my job but the snow here he uses a broom on, if it even requires that.

@AbbyGreenhill The teenagers children of the neighbor are taking care of the matter. For them everything is a game, they have called friends to help. They are doing a great job.

@Inlemay They have found 6 people alive, they are still digging. A group of Swiss firefighters has moved from Switzerland last Saturday. They are cleaning the roads and have started digging using more modern instruments. I hope they can find some people still alive.
