Getting to know music through friends...

I am an Indian, and so I am somewhat familiar with Hindustani and Karnatik music.
My affinity towards western classical has roots in movies that I saw when I was young...the nostalgic effect.
ABBA, Beegees, and BoneyM may have been peer pressure or need to belong to the group more than understanding their melody.
But now, I am exposed to more music because of myLotters.
Honestly I didn't know what blues are all about but I liked this song by Pony.
Apparently, I am not the only one who liked it..lol

Oh wow! Thanks for posting this. I hope people like it. I grew up in Chicago, and so was exposed to a lot of blues. A woman named Koko Taylor was my favorite. And so, when I wrote this song, I decided to do it in a blues style.

@Gillygirl Thanks so much! (Not to Vanny, tough. I have to revoke my thanks to her to try and avoid punishment.)

Oh, I love blues music. It might be hard to understand if you aren't American, but blues, jazz, gospel and soul all have roots in the black community as a way to deal with the horrors of slavery, poverty, and racism. Out of all that evil and badness was produced a wonderful music that brings joy to people. The fortitude of the human spirit is remarkable!

@vandana7 A lot of us who have been around for awhile (including my "older" black friends) are mortified by what has happened to "black music." Blues and black gospel were/are incredible. The "soul" music of the 60s and 70s was hard not to relate to. But much of rap is an abomination and an insult to black and white people alike.

Honestly, your classical can be heard 24/7 and it is the kind of music we would never tire of..that may be the reason it is classical and other music we don't want to hear after sometime..the same song we wouldn't want to hear again ..also..I like your selection. :)

Nice song love it. I am a huge fan of rock and roll, but love some alternative music. If you ever get a chance go to youtube and listen to a band call shadowfax, their song Shadowdance it's outstanding.

@fishtiger58 Turning, Turning Back and Slow Circle are worth having. I think the tone is better on vinyl than on CD.

Yes, I will agree with you, @Daljinder!
The person who posted it for him also did a good job!
I happen to know pony has a small doubt about his electronics expertise, so would likely not post something to YouTube on his own... That means he had technical assistance from someone. I know that someone wasn't me.... you don't know anyone on myLot who would be willing to help him, able to do that and have a good enough friendship with pony that he would have been willing to ask them, do you?
I am just curious. (PS... I KNOW vanny didn't do that! LOL!)

@DaddyEvil Pony and this other person did have a middle man/woman which I insist was NOT Vanny ( )
LOL I don't know Pony that well. And when he can be so shy with his close friends then imagine him asking any stranger anything.

@silvermist Well, maybe you wouldn't. American music is quite diverse. We are ground zero for rap "music," which tends to make me projectile vomit on loved ones. Poor things.

Well, we have two different types of music ...the notes are set in specific sequences and rhythms are varied and speed is varied..kinda..too complex for you to understand and me to explain. lol.
What are the basic characteristics of blues music..why do you classify as such, and did you hear the song I have just uploaded? It is sung by a myLotter.

I liked a few English movies when I was young, and your classical music played in the background...some folk music too...so I like your music of that era. Childhood...we are happy and those notes trap it in them I suppose. I can't identify at all with rap..:(
