I have cooked up sliced mushrooms, onions, garlic and celery and made brown gravy in the pan. Hubby is making "hamburger steaks" and we will smother them with this yummy veggies and gravy. I made plenty so we can use it with other things, too. We will have a salad with this and peas and carrots. It will be a great meal with lots of veggies.

That sounds really good. We are having oven roasted pork chops with onions, mushrooms and peppers with this bbq sauce I mixed up. We will have it with a baked potato and some carrots.

Does your husband season the steaks in any way?

This is basically a hamburger patty. It is like Salisbury Steaks you get. He did salt and pepper and a little Worcestershire sauce. Sprinkled them with Parmesan cheese once they came off the pan. Then we smothered them in the gravy with mushrooms, onions, garlic and celery.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Seriously considered it but I have had too many refined carbs today. But I have more meat, more gravy for tomorrow.

I love mushrooms. Are they button mushrooms you are using? We used to grow oyster mushrooms here in our garden a few years ago.

These are baby bellas. I have never known anyone who grows their own mushrooms. I have heard of people harvesting some of the more expensive ones, like Morels.

@allknowing I am sure I could learn. I have heard in general of people growing them in a cool dark place.

@GardenGerty Growing mushrooms is easy. You need to buy the spawn though as we had no knowledge about producing it from the first lot of mushrooms that we had grown. My husband had attended a class where the method of growing mushrooms was taught.

That sounds good, I'm going to warm up some left over roast beef, gravy and I'll make some fries. It was an awful good roast, so I'm looking forward to the leftovers!

Basically it is the same thing as Salisbury steak. I went into more detail in another answer. It does not have the bun. You can season it how you like. Some people put bread crumbs in the meat, but the idea is that I need to eat less bread.

I made homemade chicken noodle soup....bread pudding for dessert. Hubby picked up pizza for the rest of the meal. We've had the grandkids since yesterday afternoon. I feel like I've prepared and served meals, eaten and supervised meals and cleaned up after meals...repeat.
