That's What It's All About

myLot is about interaction. myLot is NOT a place to post referral links to other earning sites. myLot is NOT a place to post advertising for a business. We learn this from the guidelines. You may not post links that you stand to make a profit from. myLot is not a site for random polls. You can get that at any social site. It is a place where you can make friends and learn new things. As a side benefit, when you post something that people can discuss with you, you will earn. So, POST something. "I am from some country" "I work at such and such" or "I stay home and do so and so". "This is my favorite meal". You are welcome to post about family and jobs and pets and food and anything that will let us get to know you. You are also welcome to visit any of our posts and talk with us on the topic. We do not care if your English needs to improve, you can practice with us. It is okay. Getting to know one another is what it is all about, on myLot. Welcome, tell us all about it. I know if you start showing up on my discussions, I will be visiting your profile, hoping to learn about you, and hoping you have some discussions to respond to.

The more in the discussion, the better. One line discussions frustrate me.

I feel hopeful when they know better and begin to do better. I have seen it go both ways, though. Some people get mad if you try to help.

I get frustrated when I see those one or two sentence posts that do not incite discussion. I feel like saying, 'What's your point?'

I have seen people who have started poorly turn it around, but it takes a real willingness to learn and to try other things. I am just seeing a lot of posts that are either deliberate spam or are just from people not understanding.

That is right. That is why I love being here in mylot since I learn a lot of things while joining some of the discussions.

@GardenGerty, that is true. And hopefully all who joined and who are joining mylot have that kind of attitude so they will also enjoy being a part of the site.

It is really a unique community that gives us a chance to earn a little, but also gives a chance to become rich in friends.

@allknowing For me, not too much. I make more in an hour at work than in a month here. On the other hand, there are people in poor countries who can buy a month's worth of food with what they can earn here, if they work. You and I know the payoff of interaction.

@GardenGerty No matter how hard one works here the earnings are not that one can survive on. To get to 5 dollars one spends an equal amount for ISP or more, 5 dollars work out to around Rs. 350 or thereabout.which could take a month to earn. We pay our maid that much every day. It is better for those who come here mainly to earn if they did some manual work instead . Men get paid double that amount. I therefore doubt if those who come here and do not do what they are expected to do know how this site works. With a bit of telling off and some experience they should get the hang of it. I kept a tab on how much I earned just now - just curious. I was here for two hours and earned 4 cents - I am here because I like to interact at a global level. For the time one spends here one should know it is not the earnings but the relaxation one gets being here.

@GardenGerty I do not think so. How much can one earn at myLot that they will consider this as work.

You always seem to get someone doing that, they don't read what they need to be doing in the first place. First thing you should do when joining a new website is read what you need to be doing.

Exactly. Then they say,"Well I am putting up lots of posts so I can earn". It is hard to get them to understand that if no one responds they do not earn.

I fear you are preaching to the choir with this post. Those of us who know and obey the guidelines don't need to be told. Those who need to be told won't pay attention.

@DWDavis Not sure if it is in the Bible in those words but that lines up with the parables of the lost sheep and the lost coin in a way.

@GardenGerty Lest if only one be saved, then the effort was worthwhile. I don't know if that's Biblical, but it fits.

I am glad you pointed this out because I see every day people "suggesting" other writing sites, that is very unfair to this site. When those "wonderful" sites stop paying they all come back here.

I think it is a good add on to your post about short posts. I see some people who are really trying, but for some reason are clueless how to begin. I see others who are "trying" in the other sense of the word and trying to get away with things.

@GardenGerty People think this is a get rich quick site which is so silly. They thing it is all about posts and not the content which is terrible. But we can all work together and explain these things to people.
