Not gonna make it to one of my favorate pices of information that I have come across...but it is true.
Evne though the crocodiles do not have the physical attributes that resemble climbers...the smaller crocs are seen climbing vertically and the larger ones use logs to support their way up.
The main reason they climb is to soak in the heat of the sun. Considering that they are cold blooded creatures, most of the required heat needs to come from the outside source.
Even though I do NOT intend to be near a crocodile in the wild EVER ....I always had this idea in my mind that climbing a tree would solve the problem.
Does anyone remember the last time they climbed a tree though? I can recall a memory of it back in my early teens....I don't think I have been a climber since.

I had no idea that they could climb trees... and I will certainly remember that the next time I come in contact with one. I wonder how fast they can fun??

@ms1864 @Hate2Iron I looked to see how fast a crocodile can run, just for you ladies.... apparently, you shouldn't try to escape from one by running, either. Their top speed can be anywhere from 15 mph to 22 mph ( 24.140 kph to 35.406 kph) whereas a human can run from 8 mph up to 22 mph MAX (12.87 kph up to 35.41 kph MAX)!
That 8 mph (12.87 kph) is the average running speed of a human. (Please notice I stated "average" running speed! That means it is possible there are many people who can't run THAT fast!) The 22 mph (35.41 kph) is the fastest human runner in the world!
Uhm... I KNOW I am not the fastest human runner in the world. I have a sneaking suspicion that neither one of you are the fastest human runner, either...

Hello, Manisha!
You've been a bit scarce around here lately, or so it seems to me. (You can always tell when I miss somebody and feel the need to bother them... I show up on one of their threads and whine until they talk to me.)
I do like your picture and can tell you that I didn't realize crocodiles could climb at all! Like you, I thought I could always climb a tree to escape them... (You posted this picture on purpose to scare your myLot friends, didn't you? Well, in my case, it worked!)
Did we also lose another friend a month or so ago? It seems like his profile is even missing? (I have gone hunting Charlie several times lately, but had no luck. I thought my meds were interfering with my searching ability here on myLot, until I remembered I had been talking to him in my pm's but can't find him there, either. That means his account has been closed. I hope that was of his choosing, and not because he posted something that made deleting his account necessary.)
If he shared his email address with you, please tell him I miss him. Thank you, hon.
Uhm... I climbed a tree in November... I went on a hike down by Table Rock Lake (about an hour drive from my house) and climbed a tree because Charlie told me I needed something different to do. He suggested climbing a tree.... (Climbing up was easy.... uhm... coming down wasn't as easy, until I stepped on a branch that was partially rotten.... getting down out of the tree suddenly became TOO easy! It scared me pretty good and left a nice big bruise on my left hip that made walking an interesting experience for a week or so. I honestly don't recommend it, okay?)
I guess I will leave you alone again, Manisha. (Missing you quite badly. )

@ms1864 No, there aren't many crocs here, except for a few people release when their 'pet' has gotten too big.
Nope! I didn't take anyone with me when I climbed the tree, thank goodness!
I was beet red from embarrassment when it was just me! Can you imagine how red I would have been if someone else saw me fall? " ...at your age..." ??? Thanks a lot! I might say that to someone in their seventies, but I am 53!????????
I'll remember that you do check in, even if you don't post something.
I may just pm you once in a while to see how you're doing. I am not concerned about making money from interactions on myLot. I just like to keep in touch with people I like.
As a matter of fact... you might have a message waiting there, now.

Such a sweet comment DE!
You are right...I haven't been here much since the start of this year. I do come here every now and then to skim if there is any interesting discussion but off-late not many catch my attention.
Didn't mean to frighten anyone... are there many crocs's in your state?
About Charlie...yes. He did leave somewhere in December. I wasn't aware he deleted his account, though. He did say Mylot was getting boring. He left voluntary ...as far as i know. But we hadn't exchanged e-mail ID's ...so I'm not in touch with him.
Can't believe you actually climbed a tree. You should be careful at your age. I applaud your spirit, though. Was someone with you when you did it?
I do visit here for a few minutes every day to check for any notifications...even if i sometimes don't read many posts. So feel free to keep in touch whenever you feel like it.
Hope you have been well. Till later!

I can climb trees and every year during the mango ripening season I often climb our trees to pick the fruit, I love this. And as for your post will they really be able to climb a vertical tree? How is that possible?

@ms1864 I really didn't knew about this. What about their claws does they support it? I mean, I can't really ebeliove such creatures though small still they are heavy to climb a vertical tree.

Oh no, not me! I think I have no problem climbing up a tree, but getting down is a problem.
I have a fear of height, and climbing down a tree is a scary thought.
There is no way I can avoid looking down, and looking down to see that the ground is far away is a very scary thing.

@ms1864 Oh yes, we have them everywhere in Trinidad. They are seem frequently but as we erode their habitat they are being pushed back into the wetlands. I once had nine baby crocs as my pets...snappy little critters. Just a tiny bit cute.

Wow that's very interesting Manisha, I never really thought of crocodiles climbing trees. I was never keen on climbing trees, I think I was too afraid of what might happen if I fell out of the tree. Great post have a lovely week.
