We have been "programmed" from the start. As an adult, we continually fall for the Big Distraction. We think that one political party is better than the other when both are working against you. We listen to mainstream media that consistently brainwashes us into believing what they say on TV is our own opinion. We have been programmed from an early age to conform instead of question, to get in line rather than forge your own way, to listen and heed instruction rather than interact to learn something. Currently, critical thinkers and truth tellers are ostracized while pathological liars are voted into political offices.
