The Truth Is , I Am Scared

I had my birthday last December, but only realized I am now actually 57 when I told @sunrisefan that my age is 56 in one of my topics here a week ago.
Gosh, I am actually 57 already and old! I suddenly got scared because physically, I have the signs already that I am old. My wrinkles around my eyes and eye bags are shouting at me whenever I look at the mirror. Brown specks are now obviously multiplying.
My facial skin is beginning to sag. I am already having spider veins at the sides of my feet and some varicose veins on my legs.
Seeing my mother-in-law having her mild dementia, scares me more of getting old. As early as now, I keep reading about how I cannot have dementia.
Although, my father at 84, is forgetful at times, but generally, his brain is still good and so with my mother. That makes me confident I will be like them.
I am sad too because I know my time on earth is now beginning to lessen.
To those of my age or have passed this age or even younger, have you ever felt afraid of getting old?

Just focus on your looks not on your age...
And think that all of us will become old...
So we should not be scared of getting old, instead we should be thankful that we reach that age..
I am going 51 on April. I am thankful for that and wishing for more years to be added to my age...

I am older than you by a few years and I try to stay positive. We are lucky to have reached this age. Many people, friend and acquaintances, who were younger than me are no longer here. Some due to ill health and some due to tragedies so we should be grateful.
The wrinkles are proof of the journey we have been through and nothing more. We should make the most of every day and live it to the best in the knowledge that we are lucky to be able to still be independent which, in future years might not be the case

@SIMPLYD I wish you many more happy years ahead! The longer you stay in good fun company the easier it will be to take your mind off your age - which is only a number anyway

Yes, that's what I am also confident of indeed. I just have to live healthily so I will surely live longer. And also just keep feeling young and not worry that I am getting old already.
Actually, just being here, interacting, make me feel young already.

We grow every day and we become old, it is a universal truth. Don't be afraid of old age, your heart is as young as a young woman. We just cannot stop the process of aging, it happens with everyone and we should accept it gracefully. If you stay on mylot and stay in touch with friends (me included) you won't get dementia, I am sure.
Is there fixed retirement age in your office?

@SIMPLYD We are here to assure and cheer up each other. Glad to hear that I could lift up your spirits and could lessen your worries about aging.
Mylotting will prevent you from dementia and it will help your brain to keep working.
Mylot will be there for a long long period, I wish.

It's really natural to be cautious of one's health. But I think there is nothing to get worried about. Everyone has to undergo these physical changes. But as we grow older it becomes of utmost importance to be more careful in what we eat and how we mange ourselves

And yes, you right , as we grow old we should eat healthy so as to live healthy and longer .

I am happy for you that you feel that way. I have to emulate you on that and keep being happy because i have reached this age that other people were deprived of.
I have yet to see our daughter be successful in her career as a doctor and look forward to having grandchildren too from her once she and her boyfriend will marry already.

I guess one day we realize we are getting older, nothing to stop the process. I look around me and my whole family is older , all have issues, including the dementia. I see the things that I don't want to have, but when you have dementia, you usually do not know you have it.
I know one year, I just blanked out about age, figured things out and found out hey I am a year older than I thought.lol

@SIMPLYD The son-in-law (about 80 years old) of one of those I visit on Sundays sometimes thinks I'm a doctor and ask me to get his blood pressure next hehehe! The caregiver of the mother-in-law would tell him I'm not a doctor hehehe! When you're older, Ms. LT, you might think your hubby is Brad Pitt hahaha!

we are of the same age, my lady and it is inevitable to age, but let us age gracefully, and still alert. being in this site somehow sharpens our memory, knowledge, and intelligence and also improves our hand and eye coordination.

Indeed. We should just keep ourselves healthy so we will always be healthy and still be much mobile.
And i think , we should also have some exercises and socializing because they help in keeping us feeling young despite our prime age.
And you are right , being here at myLot , interacting with people from all over the world sharpens our mind and eyer coordination .
I was just a bit shocked to know i am already 57 , but i am again my positive self .

My mother is also getting older now, that's why I always bring her wherever she wants to go and let her taste different foods as she says she might no longer enjoy these when she can no longer walk or climb the stairs or no longer have the appetite to eat. Whoa! I am getting emotional... Hmmm

@brokenbee How old is your mother ? You should never let her go out alone anymore specially at the mall because the Budol Budol gang is after the old and retired people .
My mother-in-law's sister was victimized . She gave her more than 400,000 pesos at the bank . She was hypnotized .
I might as well make a post about that .

@SIMPLYD Yes, like yesterday when we went to another city. If I was not with her, she will get lost because she thought she still had to cross the street when we only have to walk to the right of the street. Well, it's been a year that we didn't go to that place. I told her to follow me. Hihihi

Actually, what really scares me is getting dementia which my mother-in-law is now having .
But the rest , i know they are inevitable because they are part of aging .
So, i better research how we can maintain having a sharp mind . Oh yes, one way , is being here at myLot always . .

We can grow old gracefully and hopefully with reasonable health issues. Dementia can be a terrible condition but perhaps a mild condition of it might even work to an advantage. Dory seems like a likable fish. It is a fear for certain because so many changes really. Are we prepared? I have my concerns as well.

You are too young to be afraid of getting old .
At your age , I am just enjoying life , until last week when I finally realized I am already getting old .
I may be scared , but I am happy that I have reached this age still healthy and alive , despite the signs of aging . For that , i am so thank ful to God .
As for you don't worry yet about getting old . Enjoy life and stay healthy so you can retard the signs of aging, like what i am trying to do now .

I am very close to 20 years older than you are, and have many of the same symptoms of that "aging look" and more. Physically though, I am still in great shape and don't feel much different than I did at forty. I am not pleased with moving closer to the end of life, but I don't fear it.
