A few people asked to see what I wore to my older son's wedding. This is the only photo I have with me in Florida.
They say that the mother of the groom should wear beige and keep her mouth shut. I'm not one to do either.
I wear what I like, and in this case, what my hubby loved best, what a customer in the shop liked me in, and what I felt most suited to me.
I keep my mouth shut unless asked for advice.
I can't wait to go shopping for another gown with my hubby, who has excellent taste, for our younger son's wedding in October!

Dianne, you look beautiful in that gown. Did the fashion police come knocking on your door to serve you a warrant for wearing anything but beige? I doubt it. Today there really isn't anything set in stone about proper attire. Unless it offends someone, wear what you like and what looks good on you.

@DianneN I am a tough old gal. I'll get through it, one day at a time. Just at the moment it is still raw and I am having a hard time with it.

@ElusiveButterfly I'm sure it's just awful for you. How is your husband handling it?

I sure hope he didn't make that a weekend event @DianneN back in the 1950s and early 1960s my folks had limited funds so we'd play cards for entertainment, dad was ruthless and always played to win whereas ma was sympathetic and would help us win. I always wanted to be dads partner when we played pinochle but I never could hold a straight face the way he could.

Beautiful family photo and an equally beautiful backdrop, Ms. Dianne :) So, your younger son's getting married in October. My younger daughter also got married in October last year.

@sunrisefan I would have ripped my hair hair out from anxiety! If the weather is bad for our son's wedding, they have an beautiful indoor facility, although the grounds are so pretty for photos. By the way, her dress is in. She had her first fitting yesterday.

@DianneN Hahaha! Yes, although we got quite anxious because the accessories of the bride-to-be and the gown of her older sister arrived just a day before the wedding because of flight cancellations due to bad weather.

I'm afraid when my sons get married I may not keep my mouth shut either lol. Lovely photo and Dianne they both look like you. They say both my sons look more like me than my hubby as well.

Indeed your hubby has an excellent taste and that photo of yours is the proof. You were a gorgeous mother of the groom! I also don't believe that the mother of the groom or the bride should wear beige. And neither do I believe in "keeping that mouth shut" saying. It depends of course. If I have some wise words to share why would I not talk.
