Some may not consider promoting when a brand is a classic. For instance movies, shoes, "and music." Just because a product is over 10 years old it doesn't mean the product or brand shouldn't receive promotion. Promoting is very important in business. Without promoting products or brands wouldn't sell. Online promoting is very effective.
Anyone in the entertainment business should know the importance of promoting. Entertainers must be apart of the promoting. Making sure the music and brands gain exposure. That's how sells are generated. No being laid back when it comes to "promoting." Sells are important. Sells generate the necessary revenue to keep the record companies going and to eat food on the table.
No business owner should be bashful when it comes to promoting. There's no need to be overly aggressive but some aggressiveness should occur in order to generate the sells. Some products and brands do well well because there wasn't enough promotion. The use of "social media" and other platforms is quite helpful when it comes to generating attention for brands and products.

Shouldn't a product-or-service's main 'promotion' be "accomplishing its purpose the best it can"? I look at Lord Jesus Christ---even when He told the healed people NOT TO tell others about Him (as the healing & other miracles WERE NOT His message), the amazing deeds He did pulled in large crowds of new believers!

I agree. The more that a business promotes itself, the more that everyone thinks of them and will use their products or services - even those businesses that have been around for a long time.
