A Close Call

A Close Call - Following up on the previous discussion of the tree that is trying to go with us as we move from our present home to a new home, I thought it might be of interest to show how close it was that the falling tree - a great big one - just missed clobbering our current house. The top branches, mostly little branches, came close to hitting our barbecue smoker and the patio roof that sits above that happy cooking machine. It was a close call, but the tree branches made it all the way to, but not into, the covered patio. Was that just a lot of luck - or maybe we are beginning to live right in our old age? One may never know. As to the contents of that patio, it is beginning to fill up with packing boxes for the move, and with bunches of other things, too. On the left side of the photo is part of the lineup of potted plants of various types. The plants that I like most are those small "sago palm trees." Sure is a good thing that we put some of them into growing pots rather than sticking their little roots into the ground where they would have been crushed by the falling tree. Shifting a full grown tree is normally done by clippping its branches which apparently you did not do.

@allknowing - Hi Always Smiling - The tree understood my inability to reach those topmost branches, and so it brought them within reach for me. -Gus-

@Ceerios I forgot that you do not take help from paid labour as is the case here.

@JudyEv - Ms Judy - Close only matters in love (or in the game of "horseshoes"). -Gus-

Close call indeed. The tree must have liked your patio and didn't want to destroy it.

@toniganzon - Hi Toni - I will take into account that the tree was patio-affectionate. I will ask the forthcoming tree-cutter guy to be gentle when he gets to disposing of the tree pieces. -Gus-
