Good morning all I hope everyone is having a lovely day. Yesterday we had extreme fog and for most of the weekend as well. The temperatures the last few days was fairly warm for this time of the year and so we had fog. I love fog, it's my favorite type of weather. The visibility was about one block or so. Very thick fog.
Yesterday my husband, son, and I were all bored so we decided to go to a few thrift stores in the area. Neither my husband or son bought anything but I bought a few item to sell on ebay. I got a nice Pepsi glass and a set of 4 jars with metal lids. I did a bit of research on them and some call them small spice jars and some call them cold cream jars. I'm not sure what to call them. They are just beautiful and I almost want to keep them, but can't imagine what I would use them for so I will sell them.
What would you guys call them?

Yes I got them really cheap too, I have seen them selling for over 20 bucks for 3 of them on ebay. They are made by Williams Sonoma I think they are too big for spice jars too.

Oh wow, how odd @fishtiger58 I've never heard of them before. I wonder if they were one of the first inventions they started making to help ease the hectic life of a house wife way back.

Anna told me they are egg coddlers. You put a raw egg in there and place the jar with lid in boiling water and your egg cooks. Very cool I tried one yesterday and so cool. I am going to keep one and sell the other 3

I think they are egg coddlers, I used to be an antique dealer.
Coddled eggs are made by very briefly immersing an egg in the shell in boiling water to slightly cook or coddle them.

I would call them small spice jars, because I don't know that I have ever seen cold cream jars! Haha
It's been warm here in Florida during the day, but cold at night, so we also have been getting a lot of fog.

@fishtiger58 Hmmm....very intersting! I would have never suspected that they would be used to cooke eggs! But they would make good multi-use jars though!

@moffittjc I also had no idea about cooking eggs in them, I have now done it twice and it's so cool to get that soft boiled egg that is always so hard to make. So I'm going to keep one and sell the other 3. But yes a multi use jar would also work, they are so pretty.

They are very pretty, I just took 4 boxes of what-nots that I don't used any more to our Charity shop. It felt good to empty a shelf in my basement. I don't have the patience anymore to sell them. If I know they are antiques I give them to friends who sell antiques.

Anna said they are egg coddlers something we don't use much in the US. But once I knew what they were I had to give them a try. Very cool. I have decided to keep one and sell the other 3.

@MarymargII Yes I think so delft blue. I can't find any information on these which were made by Williams Sonoma as to when they were manufactured, I would love to know how old they are.

Even though in truth I have found out they are called egg coddlers and you cook an egg in them, they can certainly be used for a multitude of uses, and I'm going to list them as both. Couldn't hurt.

I would say Jardinière - not sure how you spell it. It's been similar here with the fog
