Temple visit... No peace of mind

January 17, 2017 11:28am CST
Today I visited Meenakshi temple in Madurai, India. The colourful abode of the triple-breasted warrior goddess Meenakshi (‘fish-eyed’ – an epithet for perfect eyes in classical Tamil poetry) is generally considered to be the peak of South Indian temple architecture, as vital to this region's aesthetic heritage as the Taj Mahal to North India. But it was so crowded that we could not enjoy the place nor could we worship the God. Somehow I felt it's better to sit and worship your God peacefully rather than going 1000kms away.

I always feel closer to God in the tiny churches and chapels.

@jyotiu28jul took some time to take a quick look at the structure. Can you go up into the rooms. What's up there?
