Well now you can no longer pick your child up from school the hours of 2:30 til dismissal due to getting kids in order for dismissal. well, I have seen parents outraged on this rule now, due to kids having a doctors appointment and wont be released. what if that is your only time to get your kids out of school to make it to a appointment, people have to work in the afternoons etc. so do yall see this rule beneficial or not?

There will be a lot of reactions with that new rule because of the time constraints of some parents which is understable.

That makes no sense to me. Parents often schedule appointments late in the afternoon specifically so that their kids won't miss as much school as at other times. It's your child and the school should not tell you what to do. I understand that they want order but this is ridiculous. You have a very young child and probably want to go after the afternoon nap rather than have a cranky toddler by taking the crew to appointments earlier. Those naps are not only important, they are sanity savers for everyone! I don't think the school can legally stop you from picking up your child for legitimate reasons. Look up the laws for your state, you may need them. I'm so glad my kids are adults and I don't have to deal with public schools anymore! Maybe you can get a voucher for a charter school? They are more flexible and usually have better education and results.

true! my thing is they also ask if you just have to get YOUR child out all type of questions. Why when where? The same people against it wouldnt like it if it was done in other areas when they have things to do or a last min emergency,. there are doctors that are willing to squeeze in people at times that would require you to get your child out of school. the point is freedom is becoming less and less and at that your off springs. Following the law is always a must but some things are not people business to much. Public school kids are owned by the government. look it up Teachers know whats going on. Laws are changing very discreet undercover

As a teacher I agree with the rule. That is the time of day when important notices and reminders are likely to be given and things put in place for the next day. many schools here have the same rule and once it is explained to parents it is respected.

Can't you write a letter beforehand to the headmaster if there is an appointment?
