~Spent Part Of The Day At The Hospital~

I was fine when I woke up this morning, other than a sore neck like I slept wrong. I didn't think anything of it really. I thought I would be fine as the day went on. I picked Julian up to change his diaper and my neck had this horrible pain in it like I was being stabbed. It felt like contractions in my neck! I have never had pain like that before, except when in labor. And the pain lasted on and off for 2 hours. I was crying out in pain it was so bad. My youngest daughter called my husband to take me to the hospital. I went and the PA said there's no meds I can take obviously being pregnant except Tylenol. She said I really need a massage to get the cramps out (which I can't afford). Other than that I need to put ice and heat on it. That took up most of my day-not fun. I am feeling a little better now, thank God. I had no idea what was wrong this morning as that has never happened to me before.

You got a muscle spasm and it needs anyone with firm strong hands to massage it to loosen the spasm even your oldest child could do it and your husband can do it as that loosens and relieves the pain.. I used to get them hurts so bad/

@Hatley Yeah I'm hoping when my husband gets home that he will massage it for me. I had no idea it could hurt so badly!

Yes Hatley is so right it needs someone with strong hand to press on your neck and shoulder in a certain place. The Doctor showed me how to do it too but it seems I canĀ“t press hard enough or its so bad that only pain killers take it off. Poor thing its a really horrible pain as he keeps me awake a lot of times with it. He used to do really heavy work loading and he has got the injury from there. Hope you feel much better soon. Take care and rest if you can as you so need it. Bless.

Sounds something like cervical pain to me. It happens when you sit ion one position for too long or sleeping in bad position or too many hours sitting in front of computer. Normally (beside massage and heat pack), I would exercise my neck. Turning left, turning right then making a slow circle by bending it backwards. Slowly to ease back the muscles and movements.

@Daljinder Yeah I know I slept wrong and then when I lifted the baby I think it made it 100 times worse. It was awful. I am trying to slowly exercise the muscles in my neck even though it hurts! =(

Your muscles might be pinching a nerve. Heat will help. I have a lot of neck problems due to an accident I was in back in 2001. Neck problems never fully heal.

@LovingMyBabies Put a damp towel in the microwave and then put it on your neck, or take a hot shower. Ibuprofen will help too, it's an anti-inflammatory so it should loosen the muscles a bit. I have loads of experience with that!

Hopefully, you don't have a pinched nerve in your neck, as those are the worst and take a lot of visits to a chiropractor to fix. I had a pinched nerve when I was in college, and I thought I was going to die, the pain was so bad.

@moffittjc This hurt like a pinched nerve, just as bad anyway. I was literally screaming like I was in labor-I felt like an idiot but I couldn't help it!

That is awful. Can you get a massage from hubby? I mean it won't be professional but it might help. One time many years ago..on Thanksgiving..i woke up in pain like that..I guess it was just from sleeping wrong or something..but it was horrible. I called a nurseline..and they just essentially told me I would have to wait for it to go away...it was really bad though.

I'm really sorry that you had to go through this. This is definitely not pleasant, if it was that painful. Hopefully, ice and heat help.

You poor thing. Maybe your hubby can rub your neck. Hot baths always relaxes me, but not a good idea when you are pregnant. I hope you find something that you can do for your neck that makes it better. That must be hard to deal with...

Maybe your husband can massage it for you when he comes back home. Do you have any roll on icy hot. That might work.

That sounds so terrible. Perhaps it is time to get a nice massage from your husband. It could be a nerve getting pinched? Especially with the posture that happens with being pregnant. My step sister had this happen before too when she was pregnant the second time and it was a pinched nerve for her. I cannot say it is the same for you, but a massage is the best thing for any cramp.
