Martin Luther King III displayed the greatest example of peacemaking in America that I have ever seen. The country is hopelessly divided down the middle and King agreed to meet with President Trump to break the ice, and bring Americans together. This meeting increases the possibility that both sides can find some common ground so we can formulate public policy that benefits all Americans. Martin Luther King III displayed the kind of leadership and statesmanship we desperately need to bring this great country together. With President-elect Trump and major civil rights leaders foolishly feuding and tearing the country farther apart, King agreed to meet with Trump on the holiday honoring his father. King said the meeting was "very constructive" and he stressed the poverty issue. King pointed out that there are 50 to 60 million people living in poverty and we need to lift all boats. Speaking about the feud between Trump and John Lewis and other civil rights leaders, King said he is a bridge builder and that in the heat of battle a lot of foolish things are said on both sides. His goal is to bring America together, as we are a great nation and we need to be greater. I believe King really rose to the occasion and demonstrated the kind of leadership and statesmanship we need to bring this country together. What is your opinion of King's performance?

I am hopeful that Martin has been seeking counsel from and listening to his cousin, Alveda. Like her father, A.D. and her Uncle Martin before her, Alveda really knows where it's at. I was proud to hear what Martin III had to say about the need to combat poverty here in America.
