The Panini Maker Went Back

I have a panini maker at home. I use it often to make delicious grilled sandwiches. I decided I can't live without one here in Florida so I went looking for one without success. So, I ordered one on Amazon. It arrived today. Excuse my French but it was a piece of crap. It was from Hamilton Beach and was very good looking but the lid did not close right. It was so hard to close that I would have sent the bread and cheese flying everytime I used it. I got right online and did a return with Amazon. Since I haven't hooked up my new printer yet to print the return label, I opted to use UPS and go to their local store and return the box which I did within an hour of receiving it. Amazon has already processed my return and it will show up on my credit card within 3-5 banking days. I am very pleased with how they handled the return. Since I had a $10 reward credit at Kohl's I went to see what they had. They had a different model by Oster which was on sale for $44.95. Since the box was crunched they gave me 10% off and a scratch ticket got me another 20% so with tax I paid $29.95. I saved $6 over the one I bought on Amazon. All in all a happy ending. The photo is the one I kept!!

yum. win win there. yes amazon is pretty helpful some times. i got on well with them for years till they kept a seller on there that continues to rip people off and they will not get him off there in spite of a lot of bad reveiws. not sure what it takes but he was still there after a year of me trying to get him from selling stuff there. ripped me off of 400 bucks and i just can't leave it go. but glad you have not run across any of those kind on there.

@BelleStarr yes i get it and did not realize at the time but they never let that guy loose from selling on there even when i proved he had ripped me off. sent a computer that did not work at all, i sent it back which he agreed to right there on amazon communications, he got it back and signed for it then tried to say he did not. they just outright told me they could not refund me and he would not but i told them i would be satisfied at least if they would not continue to let him sell there. but they did even though he continued to get feedback about others saying his computers did not work. bet hes made a bundle on there from ripping off people. just burns me to think of it.

It looks interesting. I'm surprised because I've enjoyed many small appliances from Hamilton Beach. Are you going to let them know so they can work to fix that problem for future people purchasing? If not, I don't always follow up on such things as I'd like to either. Not enough time in each day. I got something for being at my job a certain amount of years that looked like it would make decent sandwiches, but the grids are so small it's more like the tins you use on outside bonfires. I hid that one away. Also, I saw the addition you made on your name. Good choice.

I was wondering if Amazon would let me write a review since I returned it. I will certainly try.

@BelleStarr I would think they would. Course, they'd probably prefer more of a positive note, but then again, they'd prefer to keep happy customers. I have a Hamilton Beach single cup brewer which I've been happy with these past three years. Unfortunately, I've not run vinegar through it often enough and right now it's having issues. Not sure whether more cleaning will take care of it or whether I waited to long to begin that process. I need more vinegar to know for sure. So, I know some of their small appliances work well, too bad that panini maker didn't pan out.

I hope that the new one does the trick. We don't eat many sandwiches here, we either use wraps or croissants in place of bread. Oh no......now I'm getting hungry!

Hubs doesn't like wraps so it is mostly gourmet grilled cheese of some sort.

I'm glad Amazon gave you credit right away. My son had to get a refund from them once and they were very good about it as well. I'm glad you found another sandwich maker and got some great deals on it.
