Colds and cold weather

Last December it was not that cold but this January there is cold breeze in the air. I'm a little bit depressed may be the reason why I catch cold easily. But I also think the cold weather brings cold. When I wake up yesterday morning I have runny nose. I rested yesterday and drink some cold medicines. I feel much better today. I don't sneeze a lot. I should be careful of cold weather because it's time for colds and stuffy nose.

Every year at this time , the weather gets cold and the most common ailment is cough and colds. That's because our bodies are accustomed to hot weather then suddenly it is already cold. The weather will get colder comes February. So better brace yourself.

@averygirl72 Yes you should . Just take a 500 mg ascorbic acid supplement. Actually, I feel proud that at my age now, most employees here are with coughs and colds. But luckily, i didn't get it , much to the amazement of the employees who are very much younger than me.

@SIMPLYD I take vitamin C supplement. I know when I don't feel well or having stress anxiety or depression I easily get cold. Good for you that means your not that stress and your immune system is strong

Isn't it a weak immune system that allows some to get colds, not the weather? Germs/bacteria, etc.

It's both the weak immune system and the weather that cause colds and coughs

The dip in temperature I think is felt everywhere. Here where I live we need to wear sweaters which was never the case last year, this time.

Colds are due to viruses and bacteria. It's very warm here, and that didn't stop me from catching my husband's cold. It lasted 9 awful days. Many people seem to be getting colds now. Feel better!

Another reason for your runny nose and sneezing is the fact that during cold weather (along with damp weather) molds develop. I am horribly allergic to molds and find myself sneezing more as well as having a runny nose. And because of the shorter days and cloudy weather it brings depression. I invested in Ott lights to help with the problem of not having the right light to keep depression at bay. I can totally relate to your situation because I go through it myself. I learned the hard way to treat myself to some special goody periodically...especially something that I order that has to come through the mail system and would take a few days to come. It gives me something to look forward to and when it arrives it is like a total surprise. I have two new teddy bear patterns coming through the mail that I am very excited about....I can't wait to make them! But there are other treats that I am anxiously waiting for. They didn't cost a lot but they are something fun to look forward to. I also make sure I eat balanced healthy meals, especially after fighting through a bout of pneumonia in December. I was horribly sick from that, but fortunately I realized how serious it was and went to the doctor before it got rally bad. But once I got over the pneumonia I made sure that I took vitamins and ate properly and haven't been sick since. Just having the reaction to the molds...ICK! I can't help the problem as I live right in the path of all the storms that have been hitting the U.S. Please take care and try to be happy and positive.

So it's maybe molds causing morning colds. Sorry to hear you have pneumonia. Take care
