Do you wonder why a happily married man doesn't wear a wedding ring?

I know there are reasons why some men don't wear wedding bands, mostly it has to do with their jobs. I realize that a wedding band can be a dangerous item and fingers could get torn off....but.... Why would a man who is on his third marriage and on the world stage not wear one? He isn't out digging in trenches or working with electric. Why not show the symbol of love - the wedding band? In my life I've know men who cheated on thier wives and the majority of them didn't wear wedding bands. Some did but took them off when they transgressed into the world of cheating I'm sure. But it still makes me question why a certain main in the spotlight showing off his much younger wife, doesn't wear one? Photo: pixabay.com/en/ring-wedding-wedding-rings-marriage-260892/

I have checked old photos, he did not wear even during his two previous marriages. I know why my husband does not wear his wedding ring, it has been stolen at a restaurant. He went there to wash his hands and he always removed the ring when washing hands. He forgot to get back the ring and when he went back a few minutes later it was gone. A new one is of course not an option, it's the one that was blessed in Church.

I would imagine anyone could get a new ring blessed. I never take my ring off to wash my hands or I would be taking it all many times a day.

@AbbyGreenhill No, not the same blessing, because that one can only be done during the marriage. I never get my ring off, he did (many times a day), I was sure that sooner or later he would have lost the ring.

When we got married a wedding ring for a male was very much a matter of choice. It seems it's more the 'thing to do' nowadays.

I have some things that I judge men by - one is a wedding band. Another is a t-shirt - the men I knew who were cheaters did not wear t-shirts...one less item to put on and off!

@AbbyGreenhill I don't think that is the best way to judge who is or isn't cheating. Some men get too hot easily to even consider wearing a t-shirt.

@MarshaMusselman Many men here only wear a T-shirt. It's rarely hot enough to have a singlet or T-shirt under another shirt.

Cheaters I went to a casino and one of the host bend down to pick up someone who dropped their phone. Slipped out was his ring, it rolled out of his shirt. The host didn't realize it and I was like to my boyfriend hmmm do we tell him? When he gets him his wife will be totally pissed. I waited to see if he'd realize, he didn't. So I told him hey, you dropped your ring out loud. He hurried to get it and said thanks so much! Yeah I wonder why, or else he'll get the whooping at home since there was no problem to wear a ring in his job position!

That's too funny - was he embarrassed at least? And, he should put the ring in pants pocket not shirt pocket the next time.

@AbbyGreenhill I said it loudly so everyone could here. He quickly bent down and grabbed his ring and he placed it in the inside of his suit pocket Then, my boyfriend mentioned something about cheating and, he said no way! But like right!!

@infatuatedbby The cheating is quite obvious and he doesn't hide things very well now does he?

Wearing or not wearing a wedding band is often meaningless. I haven't worn mine for probably half of the forty one years we've been married.

@AbbyGreenhill I'm not saying the ring is meaningless. But marriage as a whole is meaningless to many people...whether they wear a ring or not. It's off with the old on with the new. Vows are ignored. Fidelity is considered passé.

How did they get lost? The only piece of jewelry I ever lost was a pair of earrings - I got caught in severe undertow in Hawaii and it pulled them right out of my ears.

@AbbyGreenhill He has skinny fingers and he was waving away the moths from the door for me and it flew off. We looked for it for days but we were out of town when it happened. Had to go home. The 2nd time it fell off his finger at work outside in the snow, never found it.

@AbbyGreenhill - Ms Abby - Just noticed this post of yours as I was looking through the stuff on our Mill Otter (MyLotter) page. You asked why would a guy not wear his wedding ring. I used to wear mine all the time, but stopped doing so after I blew up a great big computer in the middle of the nuclear medical laboratory of Bellevue Hospital in New York City (around 1970 or so...). Got the ring caught between two of the computer's circuit boards as I was trying to make some adjustments. I succeeded in adjusting the lab's atmosphere - smoked the daylights out of it, in fact. That was the end of me wearing a wedding band on my finger. -Gus-

@AbbyGreenhill - Ms Abby - Yes. I read your mentioning "work related..." in your post. My wedding ring and I both survived nicely, and I managed to repair the damage to the equipment. The smoke went away soon enough, but I was there for several more days to make right what I had done wrong... The news did not leave the laboratory, thankfully not. -Gus-

My husband's ring is on a golf course in Kansas somewhere. I don't wear mine either, its uncomfortable. We don't cheat and I have no idea why a person wears or doesn't wear their rings... Maybe they are allergic to the metal...

I am surprised at how many say their rings are uncomfortable. I can't sand a watch I think they are a pain, but my ring is part of me.

When I was married my husband at the time "lost" his wedding ring... ever since that happened it seemed like our relationship just slowly went down hill until we ended up getting a divorce. On the other hand though I can see rings being uncomfortable. Truth is I never wore my ring at home because I don't particularly like wearing rings. I always wore it when I went out though.

When we bought our rings the jeweler made a point of explaining the rings, how they were made. the inside of the rings are not 'flat' they are convex which makes them extremely comfortable. I have many rings, all of which are in the safe because they aren't comfy to wear...my band is.

Some men don't these days. My husband military and he can't wear his because of the job like you stated, so he carries it around.I know females that can't wear theirs anymore because they gained weight or they don't fit. I wear mines backward because one ring is bigger than the other lol. Yeah, I understand what you are saying which in Hollywood many of those men don't wear a band but you have to remember some of those marriages are open or not what they seem lol.

I don't think they're that important to some people.. not necessarily because those people are cheaters but because their marriage is more important than a symbol to be worn on a finger. I personally haven't worn my ring in years, because I gained some weight and the rings didn't fit anymore (I've now lost some and can wear one of the rings again, but not both). I didn't cheat while not wearing my rings, and my husband was not offended that I did not wear the rings.. They're just pieces of jewelry and honestly I don't like jewelry very much.

My husband was a construction contractor. He didn't wear his ring because it would just get banged around. But, when he dressed up to go somewhere socially he always did wear it.

That's fine, I understand that. My husband worked on the big construction equipment as a welder for most of his adult life - at that time (first marriage( he didn't wear one...when we got married he wasn't doing that work so he put the ring on and that was it.

Well I know who you are talking about here. And he is a lousy human. Not the kind of person anyone would want to be friend with. Especially women. He is a cheater, has cheated many times in his ugly life. His father was no angel either. Another butt sniffer. How he is in the position he is in now is beyond anyones intelligence.

Adam and Eve didn't exchange wedding bans/rings when God married them. You truly don't need wedding bands to prove or consummate your vows, faithfulness, and love to your spouse. If you don't truly love your husband or wife, a wedding ring will not stop you from committing adultery....God and Bible based principles MUST BE in a marriage for it is to be truly happy, peaceful, and lasting, not a wedding band/ring; though there is nothing wrong with exchanging wedding rings.
