There are coconuts and coconuts

The coconuts that you see in the image are from trees that are in our garden.
The immediate reaction perhaps would be to wonder why one would waste time growing those miniature coconuts when one can get large varieties. The truth of the matter is, from the commercial point of view the tree with the smaller size yields manifold compared to the tree that produces the large size. There is more money growing trees that yield the smaller sized coconuts.
We keep some of the large sized coconuts for our consumption and sell the rest.
How does your garden grow?

How great to have fresh coconuts! I have a friend from Sri Lanka here, oh she would love to have any coconut tree to pick from her own yard . . . instead she has to settle with whatever the pickings are from the store. We don't have a garden . . . but we do have those citrus trees that we don't really do much with - and they somehow bare very nice fruit!

@allknowing We can always use the lemons and tangelos. But Hubby will pick a bunch in a bucket and take them to work so the co-workers can take as they please . . . it's normally all gone by the end of the day. I have some parent friends I see at school . . . I will put some in a lunch bag for them. We only have 1 lemon, 1 tangelo, and 1 orange tree (the orange tree bears fruit but not very sweet).

We have golden coconuts too around the house. My dad's very proud of them. I planted the very first tree in our yard. Then after sometimes and when my dad how nice the golden coconuts looks he planted more of it. We have the larger varieties in our mini plantation.

@diosabella The coconut water from these tender coconuts is better for health than the ordinary ones You are fortunate to have them in your garden. Do you regularly drink coconut water?

Paddy fields are being replaced with concrete jungles here. How wonderful that you still have them.

What fruits grow in your garden. I have several fruit trees too. They yield good but here there are no takers. I have to actually dump them. Ofcourse birds love them.
