Tribute to the greatest gentleman I have ever met

My good friend and former coworker retired last month. He'd been with the company thirteen years. He's got snow on the roof and his dignified, chocolate brown face is creased with smile lines. My partner and I went to visit him and his wife, to bring them a copy of my latest book and to offer our mutual congratulations. After a really rough day driving among people who apparently had their brains scooped out by a melon baller, their condo was a welcome haven. I like this old fellow, he always treats everyone like a true gentleman, with the utmost courtesy. When he goes to work, I've even seen him wear real leather shoes that were actually shined with real polish! He greeted us with a warm handshake and a half hug, offered us coffee, told us to sit down. Such simple things yet the ritual was comforting. When I get to be his age I hope I greet my guests with the same grace and deportment. Everyone at work misses him already. I know I'll miss him too. Good luck, my friend, and I hope you have a great retirement. Do you know anyone whom you admire, just for being who they are?

I hope that he enjoys his retirement. That is so nice you gave him a copy of your latest book. Are you a published writer?

That's beautiful. I really admire these types of people a lot. God bless you both. Yeah I have three of my friends beyond my family people, who I really admire for being who they are and for being honest.
