The Boy with a Cherry

My last post was about a plaster ornament I have. I have seen these in various sizes in antique shops and museums. I don't know their history except that they would be very old. They have quite a few chips out of them here and there. One is of a whistling boy.
The second one is of a boy with a hatful of cherries and about to eat one. His left arm comes out its socket - for safer packing I guess. For the moment I'm keeping these but I don't know what I'll do with them eventually. I can't imagine either of our sons wanting them.

I think if it gives you pleasure now, you should enjoy having it. I like it!

I'll certainly keep it for the moment but if we move from here we'll be downsizing big time and it will probably need to be moved on.

I am intrigued by that cherry floating in the air (lol) How large are these ornaments. And yes. If no one wants them when you are gone I wonder if one should have them at all in the first place.

It seems this one was manufactured in Boston, in which case the whistling boy probably was too.

I love the detail on them, so I hope you decide to keep them or at least find them a good home to go to.

@moffittjc And I guess when we're gone we don't need to worry about what happens to them.

An antique store would be delighted with them...Very cute and interesting. When my parents were gone we asked a friend who had an antique store to come and look at what was there. We wanted to know the value and we wanted their things to be sold for us so they gave us a fair price and took all the things we had no use for. Our favorites of course we kept and our kids will have to get rid of them when we're gone...

@JudyEv You might want to take photos of them and visit a few antique stores and ask them what it would be worth, ask enough you get the big picture. Actually, I will ask my Antique people and send the result in a pm. How big is he?

@PainsOnSlate They are around 20-22 inches. And taking photos around is a good idea. As you say, it would give me a better idea of their value.

I got an email this morning from my Antique Dealer: She said:
They are cute...I agree with most of the comments.. not sure what the market is in Australia but I have seen some like them here they sell for about $50.00.
That would be $50 Canadian Dollars so you have to do the math for yourself

Oh, I get it now. At first, I thought his arm came out of the socket because he was eating cherries, but that made no sense.

@amandajay It's about 20 inches tall and it was only in the garden to try to get a nice photo. Plaster of Paris doesn't last well outside.

@JudyEv So I don't know when I could manage to reach Australia if you keep them still they will be mine. May we pray this to be happen. In the meantime if you have a better option, don't hesitate, give them their proper pathway and proper place. Don't mean me and my wishes. Have a good luck to you and to them! Also you could try to sell them out on ebay or any other similar commercial platform. Also via auctions by bids on them. Good luck!

The condition isn't too bad really but there are little white flakes here and there.
