My cousins dog was hit by a car

She ended up dying 30 minutes later, from the injuries. It's sad as it could of been prevented but maybe now she'd learn. I really liked the dog, and she lost the other dog last summer from old age.
She lives on a farm off a main busy highway. The dogs have been out in the road a few times in the past.

I feel so very sad on this part, specially pets are one of the part of our family.. Did the owner of the car do something after the accident?

@sallypup They even front on a major highway where cars are going 120km.
The driveway is open there is a fence but not directly closed off.
I've taken them out and they went for the road so they went inside.

@ricki_911 You're a with it person and care deeply for the dogs. Please pray for our biggest dog, Leah. I may be making the nastiest decision ever with her cause the ligament on one of her knees has ruptured and now her other hind limb is not working well. I will take her in to the doc and in the morning and have a talk. 1,200 to fix the one and then is the after surgery time quality of life? 1,200 times 2: we do NOT have such cash. My heart just hurts.

Fault?
A car hit the dog, but then the dog was in the road. So I personally wouldn't blame the person who hit the dog. Many times she'd let the dogs out to run without supervison.

@frank96 I do believe it could have as well. I guess like anything she assumed it wouldn't happen.

What a horrible sadness. The pup's name? I'd like to remember the dear soul with a name.

@ricki_911 Thanks. Dearest Caliber, I am sorry your last moments were not happy ones. Bless you, dear dog. You are free now to run to your heart's delight.

I'm sorry to hear what happened there. I wonder if she'll either find a way to get a fence or leash the dog? Even some obedience training could help, if nothing else.

They were pretty decent listening. My other cousin said that she wasn't home. So not sure of the right story now.
