Hi! A year ago last summer, my parents, my hubby, and I took our little daughter (she was 2 at the time) to the Denver Zoo (Colorado). It was amazing! We actually didn't have enough time or energy to see everything! My daughter loved riding on the train and seeing the giraffes and elephants. My favorite thing was the reptile house. They had jellyfish and seahorse tanks, huge snakes, and komodo dragons. It was awesome!

I have never seen a live komodo dragon, that must have been
amazing. And I had forgotten how exhausting it can be, so I will be keeping that in mind the next time I visit the zoo...Thanks
for the response...SS

Yes, it was exhausting - but worth it! The Denver Zoo had little carts for rent, so my daughter could ride in the cart and she didn't have to walk the whole way. That helped immensely! The komodo dragons were very cool. They had about four or five "babies" - only a few feet long apiece - and two adults. We got great pics of them even through the glass. Even just watching them you get the sense that they are very powerful creatures.

You mentioned that their babies were a foot long, well I knew
the komodo dragon was the largest in the lizzard family but I didn't know just how large they got. So, I checked. I didn't realize that they grew to be at least 6', OMGosh, live and learn...Thanks for the info...SS

Hmmm.. The last time I visited a zoo was last summer. It is a small zoo in my home town Turda. I wasn't quite impressed because I have seen it many times, and I understood that time was pretty hursh on it :). It's entrance fee is rather low so I don't feel sorry for spending my money, but lots of things could be done with our zoo. I like the botanical garden of the nearby town Cluj a lot more :). It's very large and so quiet. A wonderfull feeling when youre in it

I was raised in the city, and traveling to zoo's and park's
were really special events for us. I think when I visit these places now I think of those happy, carefree times of my youth...SS

I haven't been to the zoo in a few years, I do plan to go to the Melbourne Zoo soon as I want to see the new natural animal enclosures....

For me the zoo is just one of those very special places, just
like the circus, you just never seem to completely outgrow
them...Thanks for the response...SS

I visited a semi large zoo last Christmas 2005. Yes, it was fun. The animals were not in cages, they were in the natural setting.

I think this year when the weather warms up a bit, I will be
taking my grandson to the zoo...he is a very busy little guy
so I know I will have my hands full. But it's been a while
and I know I will enjoy the trip and I think he will also...Thanks for the post...SS

The last zoo I went to was here in our town (Colorado Springs, CO)
It is the worlds only mountain zoo, so even though it is small it is unique in that way.
I also love the Denver Zoo.

The last time that we went to the zoo was in Aug. of 2006. We went to see the new sting ray exibit with my son who turned 4 on his birthday. He got to touch them, and it was loads of fun. It is in Michigan. It is small, John ball park zoo. It took us maybe four hours to go threw it with two kids. We would like to take them to the Detroit zoo soon. We would like to wait till my son gets a little older so that we don't have to worry about him getting tired and having to carry him.

Your son was really able to touch a sting ray, that's awesome!!! Were there any precautions that needed to be taken before he could touch the S.R.? Did you touch them? When we visited the State Fair, this guy had this huge white snake,
I got the creeps from 5ft away, but my daughter, she was up
front and center...Thanks for sharing...SS

It has been quite a few years since I visited a zoo, but the
last one that I did visit was small, however some of the more
docile animal my daughter was able to pet. That made quite
an impression on all of us, and we had a great time...Thanks for your response...SS
