When I left work everything was icy so it was slow moving. The main roads were salted and sanded but the side roads were a mess. A lot of accidents with people not being able to stop at intersections and lights. We have a lot of hills in our city so you have to plan your route to avoid them if you can.
I stopped at the grocery store because I needed to pick up some water. By the time I got out of the store the freezing rain had changed to rain and the wind had picked up. It was pouring. The wipers had a hard time keeping up.
I made it up the hill. When I got to the driveway it was a clear sheet of ice. I kind of just slid into my parking spot. The real trick was trying to walk from the car to the door on the ice with two jugs of water and the wind pushing me along faster then I wanted to go. I had my hood up so I couldn't see where I was going. After much slipping and sliding I made it without wiping out.
I am glad to be inside where it is warm and dry. With all this rain the ice should all be gone by morning. The rain is really coming down now and the wind is howling. There will definitely be some flooding in the low lying areas.

Yes I am all dressed in my pj's and nice and warm. It is jaunt nasty out there now.

It appear a scary scene when everything was going hay wire and you had a real tough time negotiating the weather. Hope you are safe now.

Yes the weather is much better today. With the heavy rain we had most of the ice is now gone.

@Happy2BeMe OK Thanks..I thought you probably got the tail end of that weather system that hit the East coast. We had a taste of it here, but it wasn't nearly as bad as other areas.

We have had very little of the storms the weatherman has forecast. I bought some studded clampons for icy conditions.

Ice can be really dangerous so you should always take care. I'm glad that you got home safe.

I've driven in conditions like that and it's pretty scary when it's icy and you don't know if you'll be able to stop. Glad that you're home safe & sound

Hate to hear there will be flooding. That and the ice on the roads will make traveling so dangerous for those who must be on the roads.
