I'm currently watching a show on The National Geographic Channel called "Do or Die" and it presents dangerous situations and asks you what would you do if you were in that situation. At the same time, it also shows what should be done in order to survive.
One situation, is a small meteor barelling down the earth and you are in an open space, and the meteor is about to unleash a devastating shock wave, what would you do and here are the choices:
a) take cover in the nearest building
b) lie down near a sidewalk curb
c) go to a nearby tree and use the tree against the debris
The correct answer is B because with A, you are prone from injury from broken glass and same with C and lying down near a sidewalk curb, the sidewalk woud get most of the broken glass
This show is awesome, it kinda hones my survival instincts.

Yes sometimes it would depend on the situation. The first thing to do really is to observe but it helps if you somehow know what to do.

@lealuvy2j It does help yes. But the instinct is something that's part of our character and it improves with experience. If I have second thoughts and can't decide, I tend to trust my first instinct.

Interesting! I'm sure most people wouldn't think about choosing the b) option.

Sometimes the right thing to do is not the most obvious thing to do.

You should watch the series in the series ALONE. A lot of people gave in afterwards.

I have watched that show as well and I dont understand why anyone would want to subject themselves into that kind of situation. Alone in the wilderness is really a difficult situation.

@lealuvy2j sooner or later we might revert back to that if the world ends in some say.

Sounds like a great show! Lying down was my first choice - then I started thinking about the tree. But yes, the curb would give some protection. Particularly a tall Tucson curb.

There are other situations as well like being bitten by a venomous snake. It is really a cool show.
